A Tele That Does Things Its Own Way
The Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom II takes the classic Telecaster silhouette and gives it a twist that's hard to ignore: a pair of Duncan Designed P90 soapbar pickups where you'd normally find your standard Tele single-coils. If you've been curious about P90 tone but didn't want to commit to a full Les Paul or SG, this guitar sits in a genuinely interesting middle ground — familiar Tele ergonomics, four-knob control layout, and that unmistakable soapbar grind.
This is a used Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom II in Vintage Blonde. The Vintage Blonde finish gives it a cool retro look that plays well with the '70s-inspired design DNA of the Custom series.
This Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom II is in Very Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a fine finish crack on top by pickguard, messy neck cutout, back has a few light striations in the poly that are impossible to photograph.. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.
P90 Pickups in a Tele Body
The heart of this guitar is its pair of Duncan Designed P90-2 soapbar pickups — one at the neck, one at the bridge. P90s occupy the tonal space between a traditional Telecaster single-coil and a full humbucker: fatter and warmer than a standard Tele, but with more bite and clarity than most humbuckers. They're especially at home in blues, indie, and rock territory.
The four-knob layout gives you independent volume and tone controls for each pickup, plus a 3-way toggle switch. That's more flexibility than a standard Telecaster wiring setup, and it makes it easy to blend the character of each pickup independently before switching between them.
Neck and Fretboard
The bolt-on maple neck has a comfortable C-shape profile with a satin polyurethane finish — a detail that keeps things feeling smooth under the hand without the stickiness that gloss-finished necks can develop. The maple fingerboard has a 7.25" radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets, with dot position inlays keeping the look clean and classic.
The nut width measures 1.650" (42mm) and scale length is the standard 25.5", so it plays like a Tele should. The vintage-style string-through-body hardtail bridge with chrome hardware rounds out the traditional-meets-modified feel of the whole package.
The Body
The single-cut Telecaster body is made from agathis — a wood that handles the P90-loaded character of this guitar solidly and keeps the overall weight manageable. The Vintage Blonde poly finish gives it a classic look that wears its age gracefully.
