A Telecaster That Gets Out of the Way and Lets You Play
Some guitars demand your attention. The Fender Standard Telecaster isn't one of them — and that's exactly the point. This is the kind of guitar you grab when you just want to play. Plug it in, dial in a clean sound, and the Tele does what it's always done: cut through the mix with a bright, snappy voice that works in just about any setting. Whether you're noodling at home or playing a gig, the Telecaster has been doing this job since 1951, and the MIM Standard keeps that tradition going without a lot of fuss.
This used Fender Standard Telecaster comes in classic Black with a maple neck and fingerboard — a sharp, no-nonsense look that lets the guitar's character speak for itself. The MZ serial number places this instrument squarely in the mid-2000s era of Mexican-made Standard Series Telecasters, when Fender was building these with an alder body and a handful of modern refinements over the vintage spec.
This is a solid choice for players who want an honest, versatile electric that doesn't require a lot of fiddling to sound great. Used, professionally set up before it ships — it's ready to go.
This Fender Standard Telecaster is in Excellent condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a fine finish scratches from play wear. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.
Alder Body, Maple Neck — The Classic Tele Recipe
The body is solid alder, which has been a go-to wood for Fender electrics for decades. It offers a balanced tone across the frequency range — enough low-end warmth to keep things full, and enough top-end clarity to let those single-coil pickups sparkle. Paired with a maple neck and maple fingerboard, you get a brighter, snappier overall voice compared to a rosewood board. If you've ever heard that iconic Tele "twang," a lot of that character comes from this exact wood combination.
The neck has a Modern "C" profile — comfortable for most hand sizes and playing styles, neither too thick nor too slim. The back of the neck carries a satin urethane finish, which keeps it smooth and fast under your hand without the stickiness that a full gloss finish can develop over time. The fretboard itself has a gloss finish with a 9.5" radius, which is flatter than vintage Fender specs and makes string bending and single-note runs feel natural without a lot of extra effort.
Dual Single-Coil Pickups and a Six-Saddle Bridge
This Standard Tele runs two Standard ceramic single-coil Telecaster pickups — one at the bridge, one at the neck. They're voiced hotter than true vintage-spec Tele pickups, which means you get more output without needing to crank the amp as hard to push it into a gritty, driven sound. A 3-position blade switch lets you select bridge, neck, or both pickups combined, covering a solid range of tones from bright and cutting to warmer and rounder.
The string-through-body bridge features six individually adjustable saddles, which is a meaningful upgrade over the traditional 3-saddle Tele setup. Individual intonation adjustment per string means you can get the guitar intonating accurately all the way up the neck — something players who play above the 12th fret regularly will appreciate. The body cavities on this era of Standard Telecaster were also shielded from the factory, which helps keep unwanted hum and noise to a minimum.
