Classic SG Shape, Real-Deal Specs — Without the New Price Tag
The SG silhouette is one of the most recognizable shapes in rock history, and the Epiphone SG Standard delivers everything that makes it great: a lightweight mahogany body with those aggressive double cutaways, a fast set neck, and a pair of ProBucker humbuckers that mean business. This used example comes in Cherry — one of the most classic finishes the SG has ever worn — with nickel hardware throughout.
This is a used Epiphone SG Standard in Very Good condition from our inventory. Pictures are of the actual item you will receive.
This Epiphone SG Standard is in Very Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a tone knob label missing on 1 tone knob and decent amount of play wear noted.. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.
Mahogany All the Way Through
The SG Standard's solid mahogany body is the foundation of its tone — warm, resonant, and with sustain that keeps notes alive well past when you'd expect them to fade. Epiphone pairs it with a glued-in mahogany neck using the SlimTaper C profile, which is comfortable and fast whether you're working through chord inversions up the neck or blazing through a lead line.
The bound rosewood fretboard runs 24.75" scale length with 22 medium jumbo frets, a 12" radius, and pearloid trapezoid inlays. That 12" radius hits the sweet spot — open chords feel natural and string bends at the upper frets don't choke out. The Graph Tech nut is a thoughtful touch at this price point, adding tuning stability that a basic plastic nut simply can't match.
ProBucker Pickups and Clean Electronics
Epiphone's ProBucker humbuckers have a genuinely good reputation, and the SG Standard is wired with a ProBucker 2 in the neck position and a slightly hotter ProBucker 3 at the bridge. Each pickup has its own dedicated volume and tone control, and a three-way toggle switch lets you blend between them or use either one solo — exactly the kind of independent control that's useful for dialing in both rhythm and lead tones in the same set.
Hardware That Holds Its Ground
The Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece are fully adjustable for intonation and action, and their locking design keeps them from moving around on you. Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with an 18:1 gear ratio are known for their reliability and smooth feel — once you're in tune, you tend to stay there. Nickel hardware finish completes the vintage-appropriate look with the Cherry finish.
