A Sleeper Telecaster You Won't See Coming

There's a certain kind of guitar that flies completely under the radar — the kind seasoned players spot across a room and quietly smile about. The Peavey Reactor AX is exactly that guitar. Built in Meridian, Mississippi during the late 1990s, this single-cutaway, Telecaster-style instrument was Peavey's "deluxe" take on their baseline Reactor model, and it delivered genuine American craftsmanship at a price that made players do a double-take. This one wears a distinctive Sea Foam Green finish — a rare factory color that makes it stand out even further from the crowd.

This Peavey Reactor AX is in Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a small dents noted on side and front of body, finish imperfection on top of headstock, minor buckle rash. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.

The Reactor AX was the upgraded sibling of the standard Reactor, swapping in an alder body, rosewood fingerboard, and dual-blade humbucking pickups for a more versatile, hotter-output platform. The result is a T-style guitar that plays and feels familiar but punches with a little more authority than a vintage-spec single-coil setup. Players who want that Telecaster silhouette — the single cutaway, the balanced feel, the snappy response — but with a bit more bite from the pickups tend to find the Reactor AX fits the bill naturally.

The Body: Alder, Single Cutaway, Classic Shape

The Reactor AX features an alder body in the single-cutaway Telecaster style. Alder is a smart choice for this type of guitar — it's lightweight, resonant, and well-balanced across the frequency spectrum, contributing to the guitar's lively attack and clear note definition. The Sea Foam Green finish is a pearloid-pickguard-equipped color variant that gives this particular Reactor AX a cool vintage aesthetic — somewhere between a classic American production guitar and something a bit more individual.

The body construction is solid, and the guitar has the comfortable, familiar feel that has made the T-style platform enduring for decades. At a glance, it reads "Telecaster" — on closer inspection, you start to notice the Peavey-specific details that set it apart.

The Neck: Bolt-On Maple with Rosewood Fingerboard

The Reactor AX features a bolt-on hard rock maple neck with an adjustable steel truss rod and an adjustable neck tilt system — a practical feature that makes setup straightforward. The rosewood fingerboard (exclusive to the AX model; standard Reactors used maple) has a 12" radius and runs 22 frets with pearloid dot marker inlays. The nut width is 1-11/16", and the scale length is the standard Telecaster 25.5". A Graphlon™ nut — Peavey's proprietary synthetic nut material — keeps things in tune and eliminates the binding issues sometimes associated with bone or plastic nuts.

The neck profile has been described by players as slim and C-shaped — comfortable for both rhythm work and single-note runs, with a feel that suits a wide range of playing styles. The 12" radius is a hair flatter than vintage-spec Tele boards, which means less chord fretting out when you dig in on bends up the neck.

The Pickups: Db2-T Dual-Blade Humbuckers

Where the standard Reactor used single-coil pickups, the AX gets a pair of Peavey's proprietary Db2-T dual-blade humbucker pickups — designed and built in-house at Peavey. These are single-coil-sized blade humbuckers: they fit in a standard Tele configuration but deliver the hum-free performance of a humbucker. The result is a pickup that can serve up clean twang and spank while also handling higher-gain tones without the noise floor of a traditional single coil. A 3-position pickup selector gives you bridge-only, both pickups in parallel (hum-cancelling), or neck-only, and the controls are a straightforward master volume and master tone with chrome knobs. Hardware throughout is chrome, and the guitar features precision die-cast enclosed machine heads.
