This is a used 2017 PRS S2 Singlecut in Scarlet Red — not the McCarty version. It pairs a solid mahogany body with a bookmatched, figured maple top and an asymmetric bevel cut that makes it noticeably comfortable to wear for a full set. The Scarlet Red finish gives it a bold, unapologetic presence on stage.
This PRS S2 Singlecut is in Very Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a minor play wear, tarnish noted on chrome hardware.. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.
Mahogany Meets Maple — And It Works
The S2 Singlecut's body starts with solid mahogany for the back, which brings natural warmth and sustain. The bookmatched figured maple beveled top adds visual character and a brighter tonal balance to the mix. The Pattern Regular-profile mahogany neck is topped with a rosewood fretboard and dot inlays. The Pattern Regular neck carve is based on Paul Reed Smith's original, pre-factory neck design — the same one used on instruments he built in the late '80s at PRS's Virginia Avenue location. It's a full-feeling C shape that's comfortable for both thumb-over and thumb-under players. The 25-inch scale length sits in familiar territory, splitting the difference between Gibson's shorter feel and Fender's snappier response.
The #7 Pickups: Vintage Flavor, No Compromise
Thanks to its asymmetric beveled, bookmatched, figured maple top and S2 #7 neck and bridge humbuckers, this guitar serves up vintage-flavored tone with plenty of clarity and articulation. The PRS #7 Treble and Bass humbucking pickups deliver a range of tone from cleaner sounds to higher-gain playing, while push-pull tone pots add coil-splitting to your sonic arsenal with a range of single-coil tones. Three-way toggle pickup selection keeps things intuitive. Whether you're dialing in a warm neck pickup tone for jazz-inflected chords or bridging into something more aggressive, this guitar keeps up.
Hardware Built to Stay in Tune
Key features of this series include PRS S2 locking tuners, custom-wound pickups, the PRS Pattern Regular neck shape, PRS bridge, and a hybrid gloss finish. The PRS Adjustable Stoptail bridge is the same hardware found on more expensive PRS instruments — a reliable, sustain-friendly anchor that keeps the guitar intonated across the entire neck. The S2 series sits above PRS's Korean-made SE line and below the Core Line, but it's manufactured entirely in Maryland. Although the S2 models do use some Korean-made parts — primarily tuners, pickups, and hardware — the guitars are 100 percent made at the PRS factory in Maryland. For the price of entry into a used example, that's a significant amount of American craftsmanship in your hands.
