A Dark Corner of the Les Paul Family

The Epiphone Goth Les Paul Special-II was a limited-edition run that took the familiar Special-II platform and gave it an all-black treatment — pitch black satin finish, black hardware, no pickguard, and a Gothic Cross silkscreen on the headstock. It's not a guitar that hides what it is. If you're looking for something with a bit of personality baked into the wood (well, the laminate), this is a guitar with a look that most standard Epiphone offerings simply never had.

This Epiphone Goth Les Paul Special-II is in Poor condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a major crack in guitar at bottom and wraps around guitar, dings, scratches, play wear all noted along with a hand painted symbol on top.. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.

The Les Paul Shape, Gothic Edition

The Special-II follows the single-cutaway Les Paul body outline with a laminated mahogany body and a bolt-on mahogany neck cut to Epiphone's Slim Taper "D" profile. The neck joint is bolt-on rather than set, which is standard for the Special-II line. The 24.75" scale length is the same you'll find on full Les Paul models — giving you that familiar feel and the slight compression that scale brings to your playing.

The rosewood fingerboard has dot inlays, with dots only at the 12th fret (a subtle Goth-series distinction from the standard Special-II). With 22 frets and a 1.68" nut width, the neck sits comfortably in most players' hands. No binding, no frills — just a functional, stripped-down neck that gets out of your way.

Pickups and Electronics

Under the hood, you get Epiphone's open-coil 700T (bridge) and 650R (neck) humbuckers — the same pairing found across the Special-II lineup. These are passive, ceramic-magnet pickups that give you decent output and a warm midrange character suited to rock and heavier styles. The control layout is simple: one master volume, one master tone, and a 3-way selector toggle.

One thing worth noting for this Goth edition: black hardware throughout, including a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece in black. The LockTone design locks the bridge and tailpiece in place so they don't shift during string changes, which keeps the guitar more stable over time. No pickguard on this model — keeping the all-black aesthetic clean.
