An '80s Shredder That Earned Its Battle Scars
The B.C. Rich Gunslinger Retro is one of those guitars that takes you straight back to the Sunset Strip heyday of metal — a lean, mean, bolt-on superstrat built for wide-open leads and dive-bomb theatrics. This particular one has clearly been played, which means it's already broken in and ready to get back to work. The neon green finish is bold enough to turn heads across any stage, and the single-humbucker-plus-Floyd-Rose setup keeps things simple: one pickup, one volume knob, and all the whammy you'll ever need.
This B.C. Rich Gunslinger Retro is in Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a dents, discoloration in finish at spots, 3rd party sticker on top, fine finish crack at heel. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.
If you're chasing the classic '80s metal vibe — the one Dan Lawrence helped design back in the day — this Gunslinger Retro delivers it without the vintage price tag. It's a no-frills shred machine that does exactly what it's supposed to do.
A Body Built for Speed and Stage Presence
The Gunslinger Retro's solidbody basswood construction gives it a lightweight, well-balanced feel that's comfortable for long sets. The double-cutaway Gunslinger shape keeps upper-fret access completely open — there's nothing in the way when you need to climb toward the 22nd fret for a screaming lead. The gloss Neon Green finish and all-black hardware give it a distinctly aggressive look that fits right in with the era that spawned it.
The flat-top body contour is a deliberate nod to the original '80s design, avoiding the carved tops that became fashionable later. It's a practical shape: comfortable on the forearm, balanced on a strap, and uncluttered by unnecessary curves.
Neck That Moves
The maple neck is bolted on and topped with a maple fingerboard — a combination that rewards players who like a bright, snappy response and clear note definition. The 25.5" scale length feels familiar if you're coming from a Strat or similar superstrat, and the 22 jumbo frets give you plenty of real estate. The reverse 6-in-line headstock is a classic Gunslinger signature, and the 16" fretboard radius keeps string bending smooth and comfortable without the choking-out that can happen on rounder-radius boards.
The nut width comes in at 1 11/16", which is a comfortable medium — wide enough for clean chord work, narrow enough to make single-note runs feel quick. The Floyd Rose Special locking nut keeps things stable once you've locked down your tuning.
Hardware Built for Dive Bombs
At the heart of the Gunslinger Retro's hardware is a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo. Lock the nut, fine-tune the saddles, and you can throw the bar as hard as you want without the guitar going out of tune. It's the system that made the '80s shred era possible, and it still delivers the goods. The bridge is paired with a Duncan Designed HB-103 humbucker at the bridge — a passive, slanted single-pickup setup with one master volume control. Clean, direct, and no-nonsense.
The all-black hardware — bridge, tuners, nut, knob — keeps the aesthetic consistent and aggressive. There's a certain confidence in a guitar that commits to one color scheme and doesn't deviate.
