A Walnut Body That Stands on Its Own
Black Walnut isn't the most common acoustic tonewood, and that's part of what makes this guitar interesting. The solid Black Walnut top — finished in a gloss Shadowburst that fades beautifully from dark edges to a lighter center — drives projection with a focused, balanced character. Back and sides are also Black Walnut, keeping the voice consistent and tight rather than boomy.
Flamed Maple binding and bevel wrap the body with a visual contrast that's genuinely striking in person. The gloss finish is deep and clear, letting the natural figure of the wood show through. Alvarez uses an abalone and black ring rosette to tie the look together. The overall aesthetic lands somewhere between understated and eye-catching — which is a harder balance to strike than it sounds.
The bracing uses Alvarez's FS6 Forward Shifted, Tapered Tone Bars pattern — a design choice that moves the bracing slightly forward of the traditional X-brace position to improve bass response and overall resonance.
