A Tele That Thinks Like a Les Paul
Most Telecasters are built around single-coil twang and slab alder bodies — and that's great. But the Squier Deluxe Double Fat Telecaster had something different in mind. Built in 2001 at the Cort factory in Korea, this guitar takes the Tele's iconic silhouette and grafts in some decidedly Gibson-flavored DNA: a solid mahogany body with a carved top, a glued-in mahogany neck, and a pair of humbuckers where you'd normally find single coils. The result is a guitar that looks like a Telecaster but sounds and feels more like a Les Paul's compact, punchy cousin.
This is a used Squier Deluxe Double Fat Telecaster in Very Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has play wear. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.
Squier only made this model for a couple of years — from 2001 to 2003 — and production numbers were limited, making it a genuinely uncommon find. If you've been hunting for a Tele-styled guitar with humbucker warmth and a set neck feel, this is a rare chance to snag one.
Mahogany Through and Through
The body is solid mahogany with a carved top — not a flat slab, but a contoured, sculpted surface that gives this guitar a more substantial, premium feel than its Squier badge might suggest. The neck is also mahogany, glued in (set neck, not bolt-on), which contributes to the guitar's resonance and sustain. This is one of very few Squiers ever made with a set neck, and it's a big part of what makes this model feel different in hand.
The neck has a comfortable "C" profile and the rosewood fretboard has a 16" radius — notably flatter than the 9.5" radius common on most Squiers — which means chords lay out naturally and bends don't fret out. Jumbo frets, pearl dot inlays, and a 1.65" nut width round out the feel. It's a guitar that sits comfortably in your lap and plays fast up the neck.
Dual Humbuckers with Coil-Split Versatility
Two humbuckers cover the pickup slots, wired to a 3-way toggle for neck, both, or bridge positions. But here's the trick: the tone knob is a push/pull pot that splits the coils, opening up single-coil territory alongside the humbucker voicings. You get more tonal range than the simple control layout suggests — warm, round neck tones; a tight, focused bridge sound; and single-coil options in between for when you need something a little thinner and brighter.
The bridge is a hardtail design with string-through-body routing, which helps maximize resonance and sustain. Hardware throughout is finished in black, giving the guitar a sleek, monochromatic look against the Black Metallic finish.
