The Wah That Does What You Tell It To
Most wah pedals give you one voice and tell you to like it. The Dunlop Cry Baby 535Q takes a different approach — it hands you the controls and lets you dial in exactly the sound you're after. Whether you want a tight, funky quack or a wide, singing wah that hangs on every note, this pedal can get you there. It's the kind of wah you stop fighting and start playing.
The 535Q has been a go-to for players who want more flexibility without bouncing between multiple pedals. A six-position Range Selector, Variable Q control, and switchable boost circuit pack a surprising amount of tonal range into one familiar-looking enclosure.
If you've ever felt stuck with the same wah character every time you stomped that treadle, the 535Q is worth your attention — it's built specifically for players who want to make the effect their own.
This Dunlop Cry Baby 535Q Multi-Wah is in Very Good condition. The guitar is fully functional and will go through a full tech set up prior to shipping. It has a normal wear from use, no power cable included. Please review the photos carefully for full condition.
Six Frequency Ranges, One Pedal
The six-position Range Selector is the heart of what makes the 535Q different. Each position was developed around the tonal character of classic wah specimens, giving you a spectrum of sounds — from the upper-register brightness of position one all the way down to the deeper, more vintage sweep of position six. Selecting your range is as simple as turning a knob before your set.
The Variable Q control then adjusts the width of that sweep. Narrow Q settings produce a sharp, focused wah — the kind that cuts through funk and reggae rhythms with precision. Broaden it out and the effect becomes rounder, more musical, and better suited to blues or classic rock. These two controls together give you an enormous palette without ever adding complexity to your live rig.
Switchable Boost That Actually Works
The onboard boost circuit is a genuinely useful feature — not just a novelty. With up to +16dB of gain available, you can use it to push your solo lines over the top of a dense band mix, add sustain to held notes, or just give your wah a little extra authority when the room needs it. It's switchable, so you engage it only when you want it.
The boost and the wah operate independently enough that you can shape each one to suit your needs. Dial in your wah voice with the Q and Range controls, then set the boost level separately. When your lead part kicks in, a toe-tap takes care of the rest.
Built to Last, Easy to Power
The 535Q uses true hardwire bypass, so when the effect is disengaged, your signal passes through cleanly without any coloration from the pedal's circuitry. The analog circuit is also designed to draw minimal current and avoid the unwanted distortion that older wah designs could introduce. The Red Fasel inductor — confirmed in the circuit — contributes to the pedal's characteristic tone.
Power comes from a standard 9V battery or a 9V DC adapter. The metal chassis handles stage use without drama, and the LED indicator lets you know at a glance when the effect is active.
