A Vintage-Inspired Strat with Real Mojo to Spare
There's something about a 3-Color Sunburst Strat that just feels right — and this used Squier Classic Vibe '60s Stratocaster makes a strong case for itself. This is the first-generation China-made Classic Vibe from 2008, one of the earliest runs of what quickly became one of the most talked-about budget Strats on the market. The Classic Vibe series set out to capture the look, feel, and character of vintage 1960s-era Stratocasters without asking you to part with a small fortune, and this guitar shows it can deliver.

Body and Construction
The body is solid alder — a tonewood that's been a Fender staple for decades, contributing to the balanced, slightly scooped midrange that Stratocasters are known for. It wears a gloss polyester 3-Color Sunburst finish, and the contoured double-cutaway body shape is the real deal Stratocaster silhouette. A 4-ply tortoise shell pickguard rounds out the classic '60s aesthetic.
The neck joint is a 4-bolt bolt-on with a "Squier by Fender" neck plate — standard Strat construction. The neck itself is one-piece maple with a modern "C" profile and a vintage-tint gloss finish that gives it that aged, broken-in look from day one. The scale length is a full 25.5 inches, just like a traditional Strat.
Fretboard and Feel
The fingerboard is rosewood — this early 030-3010-500 version predates the switch to Indian Laurel in later years. It runs at a 9.5-inch radius with 21 medium-jumbo frets, which gives you a modern-feeling neck that still bends strings comfortably without fretting out. The nut is synthetic bone at 1.650 inches wide — a detail that plays above its price class. White dot position markers keep things clean and classic.
Pickups and Electronics
Three Custom Vintage-Style Alnico V single-coil pickups sit in the traditional SSS Stratocaster configuration. Staggered pole pieces help balance the output from string to string, and the pickups carry aged white covers that reinforce the vintage look. A 5-way blade switch gives you all the classic Strat positions — from the bright, cutting bridge sound to the warmer neck tone and those notchy in-between positions that Stratocasters are famous for.
Controls are straightforward: master volume, two tone knobs (one for the neck pickup, one for the middle), and the 5-way switch. Hardware is nickel/chrome throughout, with vintage-style tuning machines and a 6-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge.
