The Jackson Pro Series Signature Chris Broderick Soloist 6 is a guitar built around one very specific idea: zero compromise for the modern metal player. Co-designed by former Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick and Jackson's own Custom Shop luthier Mike Shannon, this Soloist brings a serious spec list to the table — neck-through mahogany construction, direct-mount DiMarzio humbuckers, and a recessed Floyd Rose Special — at a price point well below what that hardware list would normally command.

Built for Sustain: Neck-Through Mahogany Construction
The Soloist 6 features a resonant mahogany body with an arched top and a through-body maple neck with scarf joint and graphite reinforcement. That neck-through design means the neck and body are essentially one continuous piece of wood — a construction method known for delivering exceptional sustain and upper-fret access that bolt-on guitars can't quite match.
The neck carries a matte polyester finish that keeps things fast and comfortable under your hand, and the 25.5" scale length gives you the familiar feel of a standard electric while delivering a tight, articulate low end — exactly what you want when you're driving heavy riffs through a high-gain amp.
Fretboard and Playability
The 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard sports 24 jumbo frets with fingerboard and headstock binding — a detail that adds a polished, finished look while protecting fret ends. At 1.6875" (42.8mm), the nut width sits in a comfortable middle ground: narrow enough for speed, wide enough that string spacing feels natural. The Floyd Rose locking nut keeps everything in tune, even under aggressive whammy use.
The reverse Jackson AT-1 3x3 headstock is a signature Broderick design choice — placing three tuners on each side reduces the string length between the locking nut and the tuning pegs, which cuts down on sympathetic vibration and keeps things cleaner-sounding.
Electronics: DiMarzio CB6 Humbuckers with Real Tonal Range
Both the bridge and neck positions carry direct-mounted DiMarzio CB6 humbucking pickups — custom-voiced by Broderick for high-gain clarity with controlled low end. Direct mounting (rather than ring-mounting) transfers more of the pickup's output directly to the body, giving you tighter articulation and better attack definition.
The switching layout is where things get genuinely useful: a 3-way toggle selects between bridge, both, and neck positions. The volume control has a push/pull coil-split that opens up cleaner, single-coil-style tones. The tone control's push/pull enables the tone circuit itself. And a dedicated 2-position mini-toggle kill switch lets you do the staccato, stuttering rhythmic effects that have become a staple of modern metal — it's not a gimmick; it's a real playing tool.
Bridge and Hardware
The recessed Floyd Rose Special FRT-S2000 double-locking 2-point tremolo gives you full dive-bomb range while the locking nut keeps your tuning locked in. Jackson die-cast locking tuners round out the hardware, and Dunlop strap locks are included to keep the guitar secured during aggressive playing.
