A Real Martin Voice at a Price That Makes Sense
There's something about picking up a Martin — any Martin — and immediately recognizing the feel of it. The way the neck settles into your hand, the way notes bloom with just a bit of warmth behind them. The X Series Special 000 is exactly that guitar: a genuine Martin acoustic-electric built around a solid Sitka spruce top and a comfortable, compact 000 body. It doesn't have the flash of binding or fancy inlays, but it doesn't need them. What it has is tone, and plenty of it.
The 000 body size sits in a sweet spot that dreadnought players and smaller-bodied fans both tend to gravitate toward — wider tonal range than a parlor, easier to wrap your arm around than a dreadnought. Whether you're fingerpicking at home or plugging in at an open mic, this guitar covers the ground.
This is a used example in Very Good condition, ready to play.

Solid Top, Sustainable Body
The heart of the X Series Special is its solid Sitka spruce top — the same species that's been the standard-bearer for acoustic guitar tops for generations. Solid spruce responds to your attack dynamically: dig in and it opens up, play softly and it stays articulate. Martin pairs this with high-pressure laminate (HPL) back and sides in a mahogany pattern. HPL isn't just a cost compromise — it's genuinely resistant to humidity and temperature swings, which makes it a durable choice for a working guitar that might see different environments.
The bracing inside follows Martin's X-brace pattern with spruce braces, which gives the top the structural support it needs to vibrate freely and project. The result is a sound that's balanced and clear across the full tonal spectrum — neither muddy in the lows nor harsh on the highs.
A Neck That Stays Out of Your Way
The neck is built from rust birch laminate — a stable, strong material that resists warping season to season. The Performing Artist neck profile and High-Performance Taper are designed to be comfortable whether you play with a thumb-over grip or a more classical hold. The 000's 24.9" scale length (slightly shorter than a full dreadnought scale) means a little less tension across the strings, which translates to easier bending and a softer feel under your fretting hand.
The fingerboard is FSC-certified Richlite, a dense composite material that plays smoothly and holds up well over years of use. Dot inlays keep things clean, and the 20-fret neck joins the body at the 14th fret, giving you comfortable access up the neck.
Ready to Plug In
The X Series Special comes loaded with Fishman electronics — a pickup and preamp system that lets you connect to an amp, PA, or interface when you need to be heard. Fishman is a well-regarded name in acoustic amplification, and their pickup systems are known for capturing the natural character of the guitar rather than coloring it. Whether you're running direct for recording or going through a monitor at a small venue, the system handles it cleanly.
Chrome enclosed tuning machines keep the guitar in tune reliably, and the hand-rubbed finish on the neck gives it a broken-in feel right away. The overall look is simple and clean — a natural spruce top, tortoise pickguard, and the familiar Martin headstock script.
