Built Big, Playing Deeper
The AELBT1 uses Ibanez's large AEL body — the biggest in their acoustic lineup — with a Venetian cutaway that lets you reach all 20 frets without contorting your arm. The body is constructed with a spruce top over mahogany back and sides, a time-tested combination that delivers warmth from the mahogany foundation and definition from the spruce up top. X-bracing inside keeps the structure solid and supports good projection even with heavier baritone-gauge strings.
The mahogany neck carries a satin finish for a smooth, fast feel in your fretting hand, while the body itself wears a high-gloss Natural finish that lets the wood grain show through cleanly. Black body binding provides a neat contrast around the edges, and the abalone and maple rosette around the soundhole is a small but well-executed decorative touch. The 27" scale is longer than what most acoustic players are used to, but the nut width of 1.87" (47.6mm) gives each string enough room to breathe and keeps the wide spacing comfortable even for fingerpickers.
Plugged In and Stage-Ready
One of the things that makes the AELBT1 stand out for its price point is the electronics package. A Fishman Sonicore undersaddle pickup feeds into an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp mounted on the upper bout, giving you a 2-band EQ with bass and treble controls, a volume knob, and a built-in chromatic tuner — all accessible while you're playing. When it's time to go to a stage or studio, you have two output options: a standard 1/4" jack and a balanced XLR output, which lets you run directly into a PA or audio interface without a DI box.
The rosewood fretboard sits over that mahogany neck, with pearloid dot position markers at the standard positions. Chrome die-cast tuners handle tuning stability, and a rosewood bridge with rosewood bridge pins anchors the strings at the body end. The guitar runs on a 9V battery for the electronics.
