Taylor's All-Purpose Grand Auditorium, Ready to Play

There's a reason the Taylor 214ce keeps showing up in living rooms, studios, and stages across the country — it's genuinely hard to put down. The Grand Auditorium body shape sits in a sweet spot between a big dreadnought and a smaller concert, giving you enough projection to fill a room while staying comfortable for long playing sessions. Add a Venetian cutaway for upper-fret access, built-in Taylor ES2 electronics for plugging in, and a solid torrefied spruce top that brings warmth and clarity usually associated with much older instruments, and you've got a guitar that's ready for just about anything you throw at it.

This Taylor 214ce Grand Auditorium is in Poor condition. The guitar is fully functional but, It has a few small dings and more importantly a fine crack on front, and the neck appears to be separating off the body on back, also we noted a small spot of whitening on the back bottom of guitar. Please review the photos carefully, as they provide the best representation of the instrument's overall condition.

A Solid Top That Punches Above Its Weight

The 214ce's top is solid torrefied Sitka spruce — and the torrefaction process (Taylor's controlled roasting of the wood) is worth understanding. It essentially accelerates the aging process in the wood fibers, giving you the kind of opened-up resonance and warmth that normally takes decades to develop on an untreated top. The result is a guitar that sounds more broken-in from the start, with bolder projection and a touch of aged-in depth.

Inside, Taylor's C-Class bracing pattern further enhances the response, dialing up volume, sustain, and low-end presence. Paired with layered walnut back and sides, the tonal profile lands somewhere balanced and defined — clear highs, a present midrange, and a bottom end that stays tidy rather than boomy. Walnut's character tends to sit between mahogany and rosewood, making this guitar genuinely versatile across strumming, flatpicking, and fingerstyle playing.

A Neck That Just Gets Out of Your Way

Taylor's Neo-Tropical Mahogany neck runs a Standard Carve profile — slender and fast without feeling thin. The 1-11/16" nut width keeps chord shapes comfortable whether you're barring the whole neck or working through intricate fingerstyle passages. The West African Crelicam Ebony fingerboard is dense and smooth underhand, with 20 frets and a 25.5" scale length that keeps string tension familiar for players coming from most standard acoustics. A NuBone nut and Micarta saddle round out the playability picture.

The Venetian cutaway isn't just a visual statement — it genuinely opens up access to the upper register, handy when you want to play leads or explore beyond the 12th fret without contorting your hand around the body.

ES2 Electronics — Built for the Stage

Taylor's Expression System 2 (ES2) is mounted behind the saddle and uses three individually calibrated sensors to pick up the guitar's natural acoustic voice with minimal coloration. The preamp offers volume, bass, and treble controls mounted discreetly on the upper bout for easy on-the-fly adjustments. Whether you're running into a PA at a coffee house gig or plugging into an acoustic amp for rehearsal, the ES2 does its job without the feedback issues that plague other under-saddle designs.

This unit also comes with a hard shell case — confirmed by C.A. House Music staff — giving you solid protection for transport and storage.
