Solid Carved Spruce Top — The Real Deal
The M1S is fitted with a solid carved European spruce top — not a laminate, not a pressed arch. Spruce has long been the go-to tonewood for mandolins (and violins, and acoustic guitars) because of its stiffness-to-weight ratio and its ability to move air efficiently. The carved construction adds resonance you simply don't get from a flat or laminate top, giving this instrument a brighter, more responsive voice than its price point might suggest.
