All the Twin Reverb You Love — Without the Herniated Disc

If you've ever loaded a vintage Twin Reverb into a van at the end of a late gig, you know the feeling. It's an amp that sounds absolutely magnificent and weighs roughly as much as a small refrigerator. The Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb is Fender's answer to that very real problem: a 2x12 combo that faithfully models the circuitry and 85-watt output of the original tube Twin Reverb, packaged in a solid pine cabinet that tips the scales at just 33 pounds — about half the weight of the all-tube version.

The secret is a high-performance 200-watt digital power amp under the hood, pushing two 12" Jensen N-12K neodymium speakers to deliver the headroom, dynamic range, and harmonic character that made the Twin Reverb a fixture on stages and in studios for decades. From the front panel, it's all classic Twin: two channels (Normal and Vibrato), bright switches, independent EQ stacks, Fender's onboard reverb and tremolo. There's nothing to re-learn here — if you've played a Twin before, you're already home.

This is an amp for players who want that big, clean Fender headroom — the kind that soaks up pedals and stays clear at volume — without the physical cost of hauling a tube-loaded combo to every gig.

Digital Modeling That Thinks Like a Tube Amp

Fender's goal with the Tone Master series wasn't to build a multi-model digital workstation with a hundred presets. They picked one amp — the Twin Reverb — and used Fender's modeling technology to recreate it as accurately as possible, including the reactive tone stack, the bright switches, and digital models of the spring reverb and tube-driven tremolo. The front panel controls respond and interact the way a real Twin does, which means your playing technique still matters the way it always has.

The Vibrato channel's controls cover Bright, Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass, Reverb, Speed, and Intensity. The Normal channel runs Bright, Volume, Treble, Middle, and Bass. Four 1/4" inputs (two Normal, two Vibrato) mirror the layout of the original. Players who run two guitars or use a Y-cable setup will feel right at home.

A Rear Panel Built for the Modern Stage

Pop around back and the Tone Master Twin Reverb reveals its modern side. A 5-way output power selector lets you step down from the full simulated 85 watts all the way to 1 watt — useful when the venue is a living room or a small club that doesn't need to be filled with sound pressure. The simulated wattage levels scale down naturally, so you get workable tones at every setting rather than just a volume knob in disguise.

The balanced XLR line output is a practical win for live and studio situations alike. It includes IR cabinet simulations, a level control, and a ground lift switch to eliminate hum. A mute switch lets you kill the speaker output while keeping the XLR line out hot — handy for silent-stage setups or direct recording. A USB port handles firmware upgrades, and with v2 firmware installed, the amp is compatible with Fender's Tone Master IR Manager App, which opens up 45 factory impulse responses with 9 microphone options and the ability to load third-party IRs.

Solid Pine Cabinet and Jensen N-12K Speakers

The cabinet is built from lightweight solid pine — a traditional Fender cabinet material from the 1950s and 60s that contributes to the amp's resonance and is a meaningful part of the weight reduction story. Two 12" Jensen N-12K neodymium speakers are designed to match the tonal character of the classic C12K, delivering tight low end and a bright, clear top end. Because neodymium magnets are significantly lighter than the ceramic magnets in traditional speakers, you get the familiar punch and sparkle without the added weight.

The textured black vinyl covering and silver grille cloth give the Tone Master Twin the unmistakable visual signature of the classic blackface Twin Reverb. It looks the part on any stage.
