There's a moment every acoustic player knows: you're noodling at home, wishing you could dial in just a touch of reverb without dragging out a pedalboard or firing up an amp. That's exactly the problem the Yamaha TAG1E was designed to solve. Yamaha's TransAcoustic technology uses an actuator mounted inside the guitar body to physically transmit processed effects through the wood itself, so the reverb and chorus you hear bloom out of the soundhole acoustically — not electronically.
At its core, this is still a well-built dreadnought acoustic-electric. Solid Sitka spruce on top, mahogany back and sides, a comfortable mahogany neck with a walnut fingerboard — the fundamentals are solid. The TransAcoustic system sits on top of all that, enhancing rather than replacing the natural acoustic voice. And when you do want to plug in, the onboard under-saddle piezo pickup and preamp let you run straight into a PA or amplifier.

TransAcoustic Technology: Effects From the Wood Itself
The heart of the TAG1E is Yamaha's TransAcoustic SYSTEM70. String vibrations are converted to electrical signals, processed with reverb or chorus effects, then fed back into an internal actuator that physically vibrates the guitar body. The result is that effects radiate naturally through the acoustic chamber — you hear them in the room, not through a speaker. It's a genuinely different experience from any conventional acoustic guitar.
Two effects are available: reverb and chorus. Simple onboard controls keep things intuitive — you can dial the effect level up or down without pausing your playing. The TAG1E runs on two AA batteries, making it practical anywhere you take it. When you're ready to plug in, the end-pin jack sends both your dry acoustic signal and the effected output straight to your amp or board.
A Dreadnought Built to Project
The TAG1E uses a traditional dreadnought-style body — the classic full-size shape known for strong volume and balanced tone. The solid Sitka spruce top provides bright articulation and responsive dynamics across picking styles, from open strumming to more detailed fingerpicked passages. Mahogany back and sides add warmth and focus to the midrange, keeping the overall voice full without getting muddy.
The mahogany neck carries a comfortable C profile with a satin finish — fast under the hand without the stickiness of a gloss neck. The walnut fingerboard offers a smooth playing surface, and at a nut width of 1-3/4" (44mm), chord work and single-note runs both feel natural. Scale length is 25-9/16" (650mm), the standard long scale that gives the instrument good string tension and clarity. The gloss body finish in Natural lets the grain of the spruce show cleanly.
The ebony bridge and urea saddle round out a well-considered spec sheet, and open-gear chrome tuners handle tuning stability reliably.
