Timeless designs inspired the Sub series Cutlass HSS from Sterling by Music Man, and its out-of-time aesthetics are paired with a rockin’ sound. Sporting a Jabon body alongside hard maple in the neck and a maple fingerboard, this guitar’s tone is anchored with straightforward, well-balanced sound and a bright, resonant top end. A classic H/S/S pickup configuration puts Sterling’s house-made pickups at the wheel, loading up a heater of a humbucker in the bridge, with two single-coils in the middle and neck positions. The 5-way blade switch provides plenty of tonal versatility that’s easily dialed in with the respective volume and tone control knobs. The fulcrum tremolo adds just the right amount of room for expression.

Solid, balanced tone

Tonally, the Sub series Cutlass is anchored by its Jabon body. Known for its lightweight and resonant mid-forward sound, Jabon lends itself to a variety of styles. Hard maple is used in the neck, imbuing your sonic character with a distinctive brightness, excellent articulation, and tight, sustaining tones in every register. The versatile maple fingerboard completes the tonal triumvirate, yielding vibrant overtones and rich, shimmering trebles, adding a characteristic liveliness that makes any riff shine.

Accommodating design

The hard maple neck isn’t just great for tone. Its structural resilience makes it highly resistant to twisting and warping, making the Sub Cutlass a great choice for gigging and touring musicians. Its sleek profile is defined by a variable thickness — 1.65 inches at the nut and 2.23 inches at the last fret. This accommodating design lets players of any style jam with ease, affording greater tonal control without compromising comfort. With 22 frets sprawling a 12-inch fingerboard radius, there’s plenty of sonic space to explore. Die-cast tuners and a fulcrum tremolo bookend the 25.5-inch scale, reliably keeping your tones in tune while you dive-bomb to your heart’s content!

This item is a "B-Stock Guitar" directly from the manufacturer. It is NEW Stock that has never been owned. Pictures are of the actual guitar you will receive.

A "B-Stock Guitar" is a guitar that won't have structural or playability issues but could possibly have some particular minor cosmetic flaw which can keep it from passing the rigorous inspection process put in place by the guitar manufacturer. These guitars do not come with manufacture warranty.

we will have our licensed tech go over the guitar and set it up for you. I personally did not see the blemish on this one when I looked over it. However, just because I did not notice it does not mean there is not a small cosmetic flaw somewhere. Wherever it is, it is small in nature. (see pictures)
