Sterling AX3S Axis - White
Engineered for the modern musician, Sterling by Music Man's Axis guitar is a staple among contemporary rockers and beyond. This axe is all killer no filler, with a basswood body, a hard maple neck, and a jatoba fingerboard for a sound that’s clear, crisp, and never lacking in presence. Of course, it doesn’t stop with the looks, thanks to the dual-humbucker setup and the 5-way selector, allowing you to dial in a variety of tones across all 22 frets. The asymmetrical neck and generous cutaway ensure comfortable, accommodating access throughout. Guitar gurus agree that players with a pension for panache will appreciate that fulcrum tremolo, providing ample room for expressive play, and the accompanying nut to keep your tones buzz-free.
Bright, bold tone
The lightweight basswood body provides a solid tonal foundation, balanced across all six strings with excellent resonance. In the neck, hard maple does some heavy lifting, alongside a jatoba fingerboard. You’ll experience fantastic note separation with excellent sustain and projection, remaining tight in every register for a clear, articulate sound. The overtones are straightforward and the wood is incredibly responsive, resulting in a sonic profile that’s cutting and resounding in clarity.
Adaptable engineering for any genre
When it comes to pickups, Sterling doesn’t pull any punches. Two in-house-engineered passive humbuckers have been precision built for flavor and variety, with the capability of dishing out high heat, simmering soul, and everything in between. The 5-way pickup selector allows you to split coils, alongside dedicated volume and tone control knobs, offering a smorgasbord of options to fine-tune your sound. Plus, the fulcrum tremolo will really have your leads singing, with plenty of room for expressive play.
Accommodating design
Not just tonally impressive, the hard maple neck is structurally resilient, being notably resistant to twisting and warping. This makes it a great choice for gigging musicans, rockers on the road, or anyone in a humid climate that might appreciate less time with their truss rod. A 5-bolt system securely mounts the neck to the body; a generous cutaway means unfettered access to all 22 narrow frets. An asymmetrical neck profile is 1.65 inches at the nut, widening to 2.24 inches at the last fret. The 12-inch fingerboard radius accommodates players of a variety of styles, and the 25.5-inch scale means more compositional flexibility.
