The NYXL series is D'Addario's premium uncoated electric string line, built around a high-carbon NY Steel hex core and wrapped with nickel-plated steel. The individual gauges break down as three plain steels (.009, .012, .016) and five nickel wound strings (.024, .032, .044, .060, .080). D'Addario's Fusion Twist process is applied at the ball end of the plain strings to minimize slippage and help the set settle into tune faster. The reformulated nickel windings are tuned for enhanced mid-range response in the 1–3.5 kHz range, which gives wound strings more presence and cut.
