Simple, Raw, and Ready to Rock

The Gibson Les Paul Junior Double Cut has been winning over players since the late 1950s, and if you've ever picked one up, you know exactly why. This guitar doesn't try to be all things to all people—and that's the whole point. One pickup. Two knobs. A slab of mahogany and 22 frets you can actually reach. It's about as uncomplicated as a solidbody electric gets, but the tones you can pull out of it are anything but one-dimensional. Whether you're chasing sweet cleans, grinding rhythm parts, or snarling leads, the Junior delivers. The Vintage Cherry finish gives it that classic look, but don't let the retro vibe fool you—this guitar feels fast and alive under your hands.

Originally designed as a student model in the 1950s, the Les Paul Junior quickly found its way into the hands of working musicians who appreciated its directness and tonal punch. The double-cutaway body design opened up access to the upper frets, and suddenly this "student" guitar was showing up on stages everywhere. The SlimTaper mahogany neck feels quick and comfortable, and the rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets gives you plenty of real estate to explore. If you're someone who likes to tweak settings endlessly, this might not be your guitar. But if you want to plug in and play, the Junior gets out of your way and lets you focus on the music.

That P-90 Bark and Bite

The heart of this guitar is the single Dogear P-90 pickup sitting in the bridge position, and it's one of the most versatile single-coil pickups ever designed. P-90s have this gnarly midrange bite that cuts through a mix without sounding thin or shrill. Roll your guitar's volume back and you get articulate, chimey cleans with plenty of character. Crank it up and dig in, and you're rewarded with thick, aggressive overdrive that feels alive under your fingers. The hand-wired circuit with a master volume and master tone control keeps the signal path simple and pure, and the Orange Drop capacitor in the tone circuit adds warmth and responsiveness when you roll things back.

Because there's only one pickup, you learn to use your hands, your pick attack, and those two knobs to shape your sound. Some players find that limitation frustrating at first, but most discover it's actually freeing. You're not switching pickups mid-song or hunting for the perfect in-between setting—you're just playing. And the tonal range you can get from adjusting your volume, tone, and picking position is surprisingly wide. This is a guitar that rewards dynamics and playing technique, and it'll teach you a lot about your own touch.

Built Solid, Built Smart

The Les Paul Junior Double Cut features a solid slab mahogany body—no fancy carved top, no weight relief, just straightforward construction that delivers excellent sustain and resonance. The double-cutaway design not only looks cool, it also gives you comfortable access all the way up to the 22nd fret, which is something the original single-cut Junior couldn't offer. The mahogany neck has a glued-in set neck joint for stability and sustain, and the SlimTaper profile is fast without feeling too thin. The 24.75" scale length is classic Gibson, which means slightly looser string tension than a 25.5" scale and a warm, fat midrange character.

Hardware is straightforward and dependable. The wraparound bridge bolts directly into the body, which maximizes contact and sustain while keeping setup simple. The Graph Tech nut provides smooth tuning stability and clear, consistent tone, and the Vintage Deluxe tuners with white buttons hold their ground reliably. The rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius, which is comfortable for both chording and lead work, and the medium jumbo frets give you just enough height for bending without feeling too tall. This guitar arrives with a Gibson hardshell case to keep it safe between gigs.
