Some guitars stop you mid-scroll. This is one of them. The Gibson Custom Shop Made-to-Measure Les Paul Custom in Pink Widow is an exclusive build created specifically for C.A. House Music — personally hand-selected by Melissa — and it will never be made again in exactly this configuration. That's not a sales pitch; that's just how the M2M program works.
The finish is called Pink Widow for a reason. Rather than the traditional burst, this guitar wears an even, non-burst gloss pink across the entire top — which means every square inch of that hand-selected 7A quilted maple is on full display, with no fade to the edges pulling your eye away from the figure. It's striking in a way that's hard to fully convey in photos.
Underneath the finish is everything you'd expect from Gibson's Custom Shop: a weight-relieved mahogany body, a mahogany neck with the Modern Medium C profile, an ebony fingerboard, and gold hardware throughout. This is built the right way, with no shortcuts.
That 7A Quilted Maple Top
The "7A" designation refers to the grade of figuring in the quilted maple top — it's among the highest grades Gibson selects for Custom Shop instruments. Quilted maple produces a three-dimensional, almost pillowy pattern of figure that moves as the light changes. At this grade, it's the kind of top that draws comments even from people who don't play guitar.
The top is finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer in the Pink Widow color — no burst shading to the edges, so the full expanse of the quilt figure is showcased from side to side. It's a bold choice that lets the wood do the talking.
Neck, Fingerboard, and Feel
The mahogany neck carries Gibson's Modern Medium C profile — a comfortable, versatile shape that plays well for a wide range of hand sizes and playing styles. It's not as chunky as a vintage '50s profile, nor as thin as some of the slimmer C shapes. For players who want something in between, this tends to fit the hand naturally without fatigue.
The fingerboard is ebony — dense, smooth, and with a slightly glassier feel than rosewood. At 12" radius and 24.75" scale length with 22 medium jumbo frets, the setup is classic Les Paul Custom territory: familiar and forgiving for chord work, responsive for lead playing. Tapered mother-of-pearl block inlays run the length of the board, and white multi-ply binding ties the whole look together. The nut is Corian at 1.687" width.
Pickups, Hardware, and Custom Shop Details
The 490R neck humbucker and 498T bridge humbucker are Gibson's long-running standard pairing for the Les Paul Custom. The 490R, with its Alnico II magnet, delivers warm, articulate neck tones with a character that nods toward classic PAF-style output. The 498T, running an Alnico V magnet, is the punchier complement — tighter in the low end and with more presence on the bridge. Together, they cover a wide range of tones through a standard two-volume, two-tone, three-way selector layout.
Hardware is gold throughout: Grover gold kidney tuners, a gold Tune-o-Matic bridge, and a gold stopbar tailpiece. Black speed knobs and a cream switch tip round out the control layout. The headstock carries the classic Les Paul Custom split-diamond inlay. The neck joint uses Gibson Custom Shop's long tenon construction for added sustain and rigidity.
