The Ernie Ball Hyper Slinky set sits neatly between the popular Super Slinky (9-42) and Extra Slinky (8-38) gauges — giving you the light, fast feel of an 8 on top with the more familiar tension of a 42 on the low E. It's a practical option if you've ever felt like regular 9s are just slightly too stiff for bending, or 8-38s leave the bottom strings feeling a little thin.
These strings are wound with nickel-plated steel wire around a tin-plated hex-shaped steel core. The plain strings use specially tempered tin-plated high carbon steel. The result is a well-balanced tone that works across solid body electrics and hollow bodies alike. Each set comes in Ernie Ball's Element Shield packaging, which seals out moisture and keeps the strings fresh until you're ready to put them on.
Individual string gauges are .008, .011, .014, .024w, .032, and .042 — the wound G string at .024 gives the low end a bit more body than an all-plain lighter set would.
