With adjustable effect order and 8 simultaneous blocks plus a dedicated volume pedal and noise suppressor, you can build a complete, gig-ready signal chain tailored to any style or song.
Audio conversion runs at 24-bit AD and 32-bit DA, with 32-bit floating-point processing and a 48 kHz sampling rate. That's a solid technical foundation that keeps your tone clean and detailed whether you're playing through a PA or recording direct.
Intuitive Controls and the Gear Suite
A high-resolution color display sits at the center of the top panel, flanked by hexagon-shaped effect category buttons that give you a clear visual picture of your signal chain at a glance. Tap a button to toggle an effect on or off; hold it down to jump straight into the relevant parameters. No menu maze, no frustration.
The GX-1 also introduces Gear Suite — a feature that loads each amp and effect type with a set of professionally tuned, ready-to-play setups right out of the box. There are 99 factory preset memories and 99 user memory slots for your own creations, giving you 198 total memories. The three onboard footswitches and the built-in expression pedal with toe switch are all freely assignable to virtually any parameter in your chain, so your live setup can be as expressive and hands-free as you need it to be.
Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB-C, and Beyond
The GX-1 connects to your world in a few ways that make a real difference in daily use. Bluetooth lets you stream audio wirelessly from a phone or tablet so you can jam along to backing tracks without running extra cables. USB-C handles both audio and MIDI, turning the GX-1 into a 4-channel audio interface for direct DAW recording on Mac or Windows. A headphone output means silent practice is always an option.
You can also load custom speaker cabinet IRs as WAV files for further tone-shaping, and there's a control jack for connecting external wired footswitches or an expression pedal. The Boss Tone Studio app (available for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android) gives you deeper sound editing, practice tools like AB repeat and speed adjustment, a metronome and rhythms, and access to downloadable sounds via Boss Tone Exchange.
Power is equally flexible: run on 4 AA alkaline batteries (approximately 5 hours), USB bus power from a computer or power bank over USB-C, or a Roland/Boss PSA-120S AC adaptor (sold separately).
