A Whole Rig in Your Gig Bag
You know that moment when you're loading in for rehearsal and you see someone hauling a pedalboard the size of a coffee table? The Boss GX-10 is the answer to that problem. It's a compact guitar and bass effects processor built around the same core sound engine as the acclaimed GX-100 — 32 AIRD amp models and 170 effects — shrunk down into a form factor that actually fits in a bag.
The color touchscreen makes building and editing patches feel genuinely intuitive. Drag effect blocks around with a finger to change signal order, tap into presets, or dial in your own chain from scratch. Four dynamic parameter knobs sit right alongside the display so you're never fumbling through menu layers when all you want to do is tweak the reverb decay.
Whether you're running it in front of an amp, straight into a PA, plugged into headphones at midnight, or recording direct via USB-C — the GX-10 adapts without complaint. It's a versatile tool for players who want serious tone options without a serious footprint.
Amp Models and Effects That Cover Real Ground
The GX-10's 32 AIRD-powered amp models include 23 guitar amps and 9 bass amps, ranging from pristine cleans to high-gain options like the X-Ultra, X-Optima, and X-Titan types. Classic models like the Roland JC-120 and Fender Twin Reverb are represented alongside modern high-gain options, so the tonal range spans jazz to metal without a gap.
The 170 built-in effects cover everything from overdrives, distortions, mod effects, delays, and reverbs to dedicated bass effects and Boss classics like Slow Gear, Octave, and Slicer. Each memory slot supports up to two amps and 15 effects simultaneously, with both series and parallel routing available — all visualized and adjustable right on the touchscreen.
You can also load up to 50 custom IRs (24-bit/44.1kHz mono WAV files) for speaker cabinet simulation, and choose from six built-in classic mic/speaker pairings. The onboard phrase looper runs up to 38 seconds in mono (19 in stereo), making it easy to build ideas on the fly.
Real-Time Control That Stays Manageable
Three multi-mode footswitches handle live navigation, and the built-in expression pedal toggles between volume and wah — or you can reassign it through the GX-10's assign matrix to control nearly any parameter you choose. The expression pedal also activates the onboard tuner when rocked back, keeping your workflow clean.
Control modes give you genuine flexibility for different playing situations. Up/Down Mode scrolls through memories sequentially — great for setlists. Manual Mode reconfigures the footswitches to operate like a traditional pedalboard, with individually assignable targets. Bank/Number Mode allows memory selection within banks and adds access to the Current Number function for per-memory tonal variations like a solo boost.
Connectivity Built for Modern Players
Stereo outputs, a dedicated headphone jack, a send/return loop for integrating external pedals or an amp's effects loop, and USB-C connectivity for direct computer recording are all onboard. MIDI is handled over USB-C as well. The Boss Tone Studio app for Mac and Windows lets you edit patches, load IRs, and access Boss Tone Exchange — where you can download professionally created sounds or share your own. Up to 99 preset memories plus 198 user memories (across 66 banks) are available for organizing sounds by gig, session, or genre.
Bluetooth isn't built in, but an optional Boss BT-DUAL adapter adds wireless audio streaming and mobile app control via the Boss Tone Studio app for iOS and Android. It's a smart optional add-on rather than a required purchase.
