The Acoustic for Players Who Think in Six Strings
If you've spent most of your life on electrics, picking up a standard acoustic can feel like switching from a sports car to a pickup truck — different enough to throw you off. The Ibanez AEWC621 was designed with exactly that player in mind. It's a single-cutaway grand concert acoustic-electric that borrows the silhouette, feel, and playability cues from electric guitar design without asking you to compromise your sound.
The all-black "Black Out" finish carries that electric-guitar aesthetic straight through — from the matte body to the black hardware to the no-fuss side-dot-only position markers. It looks the part whether you're at a coffeehouse open mic or running through a set on a festival stage.
Whether you're an electric player wanting an acoustic that doesn't fight back, or you simply want a comfortable, plug-ready guitar that sounds good from the first strum, the AEWC621 covers a lot of ground without a lot of fuss.
A Body Built Around Comfort
The AEWC621 uses Ibanez's AEWC body shape — a grand concert-size cutaway form with arm and back contours and an arched back. The soft Florentine cutaway means you're not losing access to the upper frets just because you're on an acoustic. That's a real practical benefit if you're used to playing across the whole neck on an electric.
The spruce top pairs with sapele back and sides — a combination that delivers clear tonal articulation up top with a warm, balanced midrange from the body. Sapele's natural brightness keeps the guitar from sounding boxy or congested, which is especially useful when you're plugging in and running through a PA or amp.
A Neck That Feels Familiar
The Comfort Grip Nyatoh neck is one of the AEWC621's strongest selling points for electric players. It's a slimmer, faster-feeling profile than you'd find on a typical acoustic, with a 25" scale length, a 1.7" nut width, and a 15.75" fretboard radius — much flatter than traditional acoustic necks. That radius keeps chord shapes comfortable and bends manageable across the full 20-fret Macassar ebony fretboard.
Macassar ebony is a dense, naturally smooth fretboard wood — it plays fast under the fingers and contributes firm attack and clarity to each note. The neck carries an open-pore polyurethane finish, which gives it a natural, unpainted feel rather than the sticky gloss that can slow some players down.
Electronics Ready for the Stage
The AEWC621 comes loaded with a Fishman S-Core pickup feeding into an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp system. The preamp includes bass and treble EQ controls alongside a volume knob, and critically, a built-in onboard tuner — one less thing to clip to the headstock before every set. The output section gives you both a balanced XLR output and a standard 1/4" jack, so you can run straight into a DI, a PA, or your pedalboard without adapters.
The Macassar ebony bridge uses a top-loading, pin-free design, which makes string changes noticeably faster and simpler. Black die-cast tuners with an 18:1 gear ratio round out the hardware and keep the guitar firmly in tune under regular playing conditions.
