The two DT20 drum triggers clip directly onto your acoustic drums and pick up vibration to fire signals to the DTX502. The DTX502 includes a set of built-in training tools that are genuinely useful for players who want to improve their timing. Groove Check displays whether you're playing ahead of or behind the beat, so you can identify tendencies and start correcting them. Rhythm Gate takes a different approach — it mutes the sound if your playing strays too far off-tempo, which trains you to stay in the pocket through repetition rather than just observation.
There's also a programmable metronome with both audio click and visual blinking, plus a built-in timer for managing practice sessions. These aren't flashy features, but they're practical ones that pay off over time.
