A Real Guitar That Doesn't Get in Your Way
There's a certain moment when a new player picks up their very first guitar — and it either hooks them or it doesn't. A lot of that comes down to the instrument itself. If it's uncomfortable, buzzy, or just sounds flat, the guitar ends up in a closet. Alvarez built the Regent Series specifically to avoid that outcome, and the RD26S-AGP is the centerpiece of that effort: a full-size dreadnought acoustic designed to be genuinely easy to play from the very first day.
The Regent 26 Series targets the student and beginner market, but it doesn't cut corners where it counts. The neck profile is slightly slimmer than a typical acoustic to make chord fretting easier, and the nut width comes in at 43mm — enough room to develop clean technique without feeling stretched across a wide neck. Players often find this makes the difference between practicing every day and giving up after a week.
This is a complete guitar for anyone ready to start learning — students, gift recipients, or adults picking the instrument up for the first time.
Dreadnought Body with Scalloped Bracing
The RD26S-AGP wears a classic dreadnought shape, which means a big, full sound with plenty of low-end body and good projection. The laminate spruce top has been fitted with Alvarez's standard scalloped X-bracing — a bracing pattern that gives the top more room to flex and respond dynamically. This is the kind of attention to construction detail that separates this guitar from the most basic entry-level instruments.
Alvarez puts it plainly: they spent real effort on making their scalloped bracing work with laminate construction rather than against it. The result is a guitar that sounds noticeably more open and resonant than you'd typically expect at this price point. Players often note that the Regent 26 responds well even to light picking, rather than needing to be driven hard to come alive.
Quality Components Throughout
The neck is mahogany with a satin finish — smooth under the hand for long practice sessions. It connects to the body via a dovetail joint and meets the body at the 14th fret, giving access to the upper register. The Techwood fingerboard and Alvarez's bi-level bridge work together to keep intonation consistent and action manageable right out of the box.
Nut and saddle are PPS Synthetic Bone, which is a step above basic plastic and helps sustain and open string tone. Chrome die-cast tuners hold tune reliably during practice, and the ivory ABS binding gives the guitar a clean, finished look. The overall finish is natural satin — visually appealing without requiring the extra care of a high-gloss surface.
