A Piece of Gibson History — Made for Players Today
The Gibson Dove has been turning heads since the early 1960s — that square-shoulder silhouette, the dove pickguard, the split parallelogram inlays. It's one of those guitars that's almost as iconic to look at as it is to play. The Epiphone Dove Studio brings that same DNA into an accessible acoustic-electric built for everyday players who want real stage-ready tone without the vintage price tag.
Part of the all-new Epiphone Studio Acoustic Collection, the Dove Studio is a ground-up reimagining of the classic Dove design. It combines a solid spruce top with layered maple back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a Fishman pickup system — delivering a full-featured acoustic-electric that works just as well in your living room as it does plugged in at a gig. The gloss Natural finish lets the wood's character speak for itself.
Whether you're strumming open chords around a campfire, running through songs in a rehearsal space, or stepping up to a microphone at your local venue, this guitar is genuinely ready for all of it.
Solid Top, Maple Body — Bright, Punchy, and Projecting
The tonal foundation of the Dove Studio comes from its solid spruce top — the industry standard for good reason. It responds well to both light fingerpicking and aggressive strumming, with plenty of dynamic range and a top that opens up the more you play it. X-bracing underneath gives the top room to resonate freely, adding sustain and definition across the frequency range.
Underneath, the layered maple back and sides bring brightness and clarity to the overall voice. Maple has a reputation for presence and cut — you won't get lost in a mix with this guitar. The result is a sound that's clear and punchy with a firm midrange, well-suited to singer-songwriters who need their acoustic to carry in a room.
A Neck That Actually Feels Good
The Dove Studio's glued-in mahogany neck features a Rounded C profile — comfortable and unpretentious. It joins the body via a tapered dovetail joint for solid connection and reliable resonance transfer. The 25.5" scale length gives the strings a bit more tension than a shorter scale, which translates to crisp note definition and a snappier attack that players who dig into their picking often appreciate.
The bound rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 20 standard frets and dressed with pearloid split parallelogram inlays — the same classic look the original Dove was famous for. Nut width comes in at 1.69" (43mm), giving ample room across the strings without feeling too wide. Grover Rotomatic tuners keep everything in tune with minimal fuss.
Stage-Ready Electronics, Classic Appointments
The Fishman S-Core under-saddle pickup feeds into a Fishman Presys VT preamp, with soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls that stay out of the way visually but are easy to reach mid-performance. It's a clean, transparent system that captures the natural acoustic character of the guitar rather than coloring it — exactly what you want from an acoustic-electric.
Visually, the Dove Studio delivers all the appointments that make the original iconic: the dove-engraved pickguard, pearloid dove inlays on the rosewood bridge, the 60s Kalamazoo-style headstock with the Epiphone logo and Gibson Crown in mother of pearl, plus multi-ply binding on both top and back. Six-ply antique ivory and black binding on the top, four-ply on the back — details that punch well above this guitar's price point.
