A Lot of Fender in a Small Box

You know that feeling when you just want to plug in and play without a big setup production? The Champion 20 is built for exactly that. It's a compact 20-watt solid state combo that fits on a desk, fits in a car, and doesn't require a roadie — yet it still sounds unmistakably like a Fender.

At the heart of it is a single 1/4" input channel with a Voice knob that lets you cycle through Blackface, Tweed, British, and Metal voicings — covering everything from the glassy sparkle of a '60s clean tone to midrange crunch and heavier gain flavors. Pair that with the onboard effects selection (reverb, delay/echo, chorus, tremolo, Vibratone, and more) and a TAP button for setting delay and tremolo tempo on the fly, and you've got a surprisingly deep tool for practicing, songwriting, or just noodling.

At 12 lbs. with a silver grille and classic black Bronco vinyl, it looks and carries like a Fender should. Whether you're setting it on a bedroom dresser or hauling it to a lesson, the Champion 20 punches well above its footprint.

Voicings and Tone Shaping

The Champion 20's single channel packs four distinct amp voicings — Blackface, British, Metal, and Tweed — each voiced to capture a different character of guitar amplification. Blackface delivers the crisp, clean chime that Fender built its reputation on; Tweed adds warmth and vintage grit; British shapes in that midrange-forward overdrive associated with classic rock; and Metal steps into higher-gain territory for heavier playing styles.

On-board tone shaping includes a Treble and Bass control alongside the Voice knob, so you can dial in more than just the broad voicing character. Gain and Volume sit on the channel, and a master FX Level knob lets you blend the effects as deeply or subtly as you like.

Built-In Effects and Connectivity

The FX Select knob cycles through onboard effects including reverb, delay/echo, chorus, tremolo, Vibratone, and more. The TAP button is a genuinely useful touch — tap it in time with a song and the delay repeats or tremolo speed will lock in to match. No menu-diving, no software required.

For connectivity, the Champion 20 includes a 1/8" stereo auxiliary input so you can run a phone, tablet, or media player through the amp and play along with tracks. A 1/8" stereo headphone output lets you practice silently at any hour without waking the house. The open-back cabinet design also contributes to a fuller, more room-filling sound than you might expect from an 8" speaker at this size.
