A Fender That Goes Where You Go
Not everyone needs a full-size dreadnought all the time. Sometimes you want something you can grab off the hook on your way out the door — something that fits in the overhead bin, sits comfortably on the couch, and doesn't feel like a workout to play for an hour. That's exactly what the Fender California Standard Redondo Mini is built for.
Part of Fender's California Series, this miniature dreadnought pulls off a neat trick: it looks like a "real" guitar (because it is one), sounds like a guitar, and plays like a guitar — just in a package that's a whole lot easier to haul around. The all-laminate build with a spruce top and sapele back and sides gives it a balanced, articulate character, and the short 22.75" scale makes fretting and chording noticeably easier than a standard-size instrument.
Whether you're a younger player who finds full-size guitars a bit unwieldy, someone with smaller hands, or a seasoned player who wants a reliable travel guitar, the Redondo Mini earns its place in the lineup on its own terms.
Small Body, Big Fender Personality
The Redondo Mini's compact dreadnought body follows the Redondo shape — slightly smaller and more comfortable to hold than a traditional dreadnought, but still delivering real projection and volume. The laminated spruce top handles the sonic heavy lifting, offering bright, clear response with the kind of dynamic range that works equally well for strumming and fingerpicking. Sapele back and sides round out the sound with a warm, focused character.
The gloss polyurethane finish in black gives it a clean, modern look with ivory body binding for a nice bit of contrast. And that Mini Stratocaster-style 6-in-line headstock? That's Fender's electric DNA showing through — a design detail that makes this unmistakably a Fender, even at a distance.
A Neck Built for Playing
The slim "C"-shaped okoume neck with a 22.75" scale length is one of the Redondo Mini's most player-friendly features. Shorter scale means lighter string tension, which translates directly to easier chord grips and less fatigue during longer sessions. The 1.60" nut width keeps things comfortable whether you're working through open chords or running single-note lines.
The walnut fingerboard has a 9.5" radius — familiar territory for anyone who's played a Fender electric — with 20 frets and pearloid dot position markers. A Micarta nut keeps string spacing consistent, and die-cast sealed tuning machines hold pitch reliably session after session. The Modern Viking walnut bridge completes the picture, handling string tension efficiently and contributing to the guitar's sustain and resonance.
