The Piaggero NP-35 uses Yamaha's Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) stereo sampling technology to deliver the sound of the CFIIIS concert grand—a piano known for its bright, transparent tone and spacious treble. The onboard 12-watt stereo speaker system (6 watts per side) is significantly larger than the NP-15's 5-watt system, giving you more robust bass and overall volume. You also get Damper Resonance DSP, which recreates the sympathetic string vibration you hear when the damper pedal is down on a real grand piano. It's a small detail that adds a lot of realism.
The 15 voices cover the essentials: three acoustic pianos (including a bright piano that's become a favorite among players), three electric pianos, three organs (including a Hammond B3-style Jazz Organ that wasn't available on the previous NP-32), three harpsichord/vibraphone sounds, and three string patches. The Sound Boost function switches to a punchier, more powerful output when you need to cut through in a band or ensemble setting. You can also layer two voices simultaneously in Dual mode for richer textures.
The NP-35 includes 25 preset songs (15 voice demos plus 10 piano pieces) and a one-track MIDI recorder that lets you capture performances to internal memory. Record your left hand, then play it back while you practice the right—helpful for learning new pieces or working through tricky passages. The built-in metronome covers tempos from 32 to 280 BPM, and you can transpose up or down six semitones to match other instruments or singers.
Smart Connectivity and Real Portability
The USB-to-host port does double duty: it sends MIDI data and also functions as a two-channel audio interface, so you can record high-quality stereo audio directly to your computer or mobile device without an external interface. Yamaha's Smart Pianist app unlocks deeper control over all the NP-35's functions from your smartphone or tablet, and the Rec'n'Share app lets you record synchronized video and audio for sharing on social media—no additional gear required.
The headphone output supports half-damper control when you connect an optional FC3A pedal, giving you continuously variable sustain just like an acoustic piano.
