Big Sound in a Compact Package

There's something immediately appealing about a parlor guitar — the way it sits comfortably in your lap, the shorter reach to those lower frets, and the focused, punchy tone that makes every note feel intentional. The Yamaha CSF1M TBL takes that classic parlor vibe and pairs it with a solid Sitka spruce top, a passive piezo pickup for plugging in, and a striking Translucent Black finish that gives it a look as distinctive as its voice.

This is a guitar that works just as well at home on the couch as it does at an open mic or in a recording session. At just over 23.5 inches of scale length, it's a touch shorter than a full-size acoustic — which means a bit less string tension and a bit more comfort, especially for players who spend long hours playing. Don't let the compact body fool you: Yamaha engineered the CSF1M to punch well above its size class.

Whether you're after a travel-friendly companion, a creative songwriting tool, or just a guitar that feels genuinely fun to play, the CSF1M is worth a close look.

This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Minor scratches on body, excess glue on bridge, excess glue on heel. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.

A Top That Does the Heavy Lifting

The heart of the CSF1M's tone is its solid Sitka spruce top. Spruce is the go-to choice for acoustic tops because of its combination of stiffness and lightness — it moves freely, responds to dynamics, and projects clearly across a wide range. Yamaha pairs this with a newly designed forward-shifted scalloped bracing pattern that increases bass response and overall resonance, helping the compact parlor body produce a surprisingly full and rich sound.

The laminate mahogany back and sides complement the spruce top by adding warmth and a natural, woody richness to the low end. It's a pairing that players have relied on for decades, and for good reason — spruce clarity up top, mahogany warmth down below, balanced across every register. A rosewood fingerboard and bridge round out the tonal picture with a bit of additional depth and sustain.

The SRT Passive Pickup: Plug In Without the Fuss

The CSF1M comes equipped with Yamaha's SRT (Studio Response Technology) passive undersaddle piezo pickup — the same sensor technology found in Yamaha's premium L-Series acoustic-electrics. It features an individual sensor under each string for accurate, balanced output, and because it's a passive design, there's no battery required. Plug into an amp, a DI box, or straight into the PA — it's ready when you are, without any preamp controls to manage.

That simplicity is actually a feature. For players who want a clean, natural acoustic signal without onboard EQ shaping things, the passive design keeps it honest. You shape the tone at the amp or board, not onboard. It's a straightforward, reliable setup that works well on stage or in the studio.

Comfortable Scale, Parlor Feel

The CSF1M's 23 5/8" (600mm) scale length is about 34mm shorter than a standard full-size acoustic. That translates to slightly lower string tension, which can make bending, chord changes, and extended playing sessions feel more comfortable — without sacrificing intonation or playability. The neck is made from Nato (a stable, reliable hardwood), and the rosewood fretboard provides a smooth, familiar playing surface.

The Translucent Black finish shows off the natural wood grain beneath the gloss, giving the CSF1M a look that's more modern and stylish than the typical natural or sunburst parlor guitar. It's a guitar that looks as interesting as it sounds.
