The concert cutaway body keeps things comfortable whether you're sitting on a stool at an open mic or running through songs at home — and the cutaway gives you clean access to the upper frets without cramping your picking hand.
The Vintage Natural finish has a warm, golden character that suits the guitar's overall personality: understated, a little vintage, and built to actually be played. Tortoise-pattern pickguard, mahogany and cream body binding, and a gloss finish round out a look that feels classic without being flashy.

This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Binding blemishes. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
Solid Spruce Top, Rosewood Back and Sides
The AC1R leads with a solid Sitka spruce top — known for its stiffness and responsiveness across a wide dynamic range, from gentle fingerpicking to aggressive strumming. Yamaha pairs it with a custom scalloped bracing pattern, developed through their own acoustic analysis work, designed to push more volume and richer tone out of the top board while shorter back bracing helps the whole body resonate more freely.
Rosewood back and sides round out the tonal picture with the well-balanced, articulate sound rosewood is known for — clear highs, defined lows, and a sense of openness across the frequency range. The 3-ply African mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard (with a 15.75" radius) add warmth and a smooth, comfortable feel under the fretting hand.
SRT Pickup and System 66 Preamp
When it's time to plug in, the AC1R relies on Yamaha's SRT (Studio Response Technology) piezo pickup system paired with the System 66 preamp. The goal of the SRT system is to reproduce the natural character of the acoustic guitar rather than delivering a generic piezo tone — players who have used it live tend to appreciate how natural it sounds through a PA compared to a standard undersaddle pickup.
The System 66 preamp sits on the upper bout and gives you volume, 3-band EQ, a built-in chromatic tuner, and Yamaha's AMF (Automatic Midrange Frequency) adjustment — a slider that lets you fine-tune the midrange to suit your playing style or the room. Everything you need is right there without having to dig into a menu or fumble with controls mid-song.
Concert Body Cutaway: The AC Body Shape
Yamaha designates the AC body as their "small body cutaway" — a concert-size build (380mm / ~15" body width) with a single cutaway and a slightly deeper body compared to the dreadnought. This translates to articulate midrange and highs, defined lows, and a balanced voice that doesn't overwhelm smaller spaces. The scale length is 650mm (25 9/16") with a 43mm (1 11/16") nut width — a fairly standard setup that works well across playing styles.
Die-cast chrome tuners handle intonation reliably, and the guitar ships with Elixir strings, which hold their tone longer than standard phosphor bronze. A rosewood bridge and urea nut and saddle complete the hardware picture.
