An Ovation Roundback With a Little Extra on Top
There's a certain moment every gigging guitarist knows — when the stage lights hit your guitar just right and the audience notices before you even play a note. The Ovation Celebrity Traditional Plus CS24X-7C earns that moment with its quilted maple top in Cognac Burst gloss, a finish that layers warm amber and deep brown tones over a genuinely eye-catching figure. But this guitar isn't just about looks.
The "Plus" in the name tells you something real: these are the Celebrity models where Ovation steps up the top wood from standard spruce to something visually appealing and tonally distinctive. For the CS24X-7C, that means a selected quilted maple top paired with the mid-depth Lyrachord roundback body that has made Ovation one of the most recognizable acoustic-electric guitars on the planet. It's a guitar that plays comfortably, looks great under lights, and goes straight into a PA with confidence.
If you want a stage-ready acoustic-electric with a traditional center soundhole, a comfortable cutaway, and electronics you can trust at a gig, the CS24X-7C is a strong choice whether you're playing coffeehouses or club stages.
This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed some scratches on the back. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
The Lyrachord Body — Ovation's Signature Design
The body of the CS24X-7C is built from Lyrachord, Ovation's proprietary fiberglass-composite material, formed into their distinctive parabolic roundback shape. The mid-depth bowl strikes a balance between a guitar that projects well acoustically and one that stays comfortable to play for a full set — not so deep that it slides away, not so shallow that it sacrifices warmth.
The scalloped, quartersawn X-bracing supports the quilted maple top and keeps the sound articulate and balanced across the frequency range. The center soundhole — which distinguishes the Traditional line from the multi-soundhole Elite models — delivers clear, focused projection whether you're playing unplugged or running through a board. Add the single cutaway and you've got easy access all the way up the neck for those upper-register runs and chord voicings.
Neck and Fingerboard — Comfortable and Familiar
The CS24X-7C's nato neck wears a satin finish that keeps things smooth and non-sticky even through a long set. The ovangkol fingerboard has a 10" radius — a comfortable, player-friendly curve that suits strumming, chord work, and single-note playing equally well. At 1-11/16" (42.8mm) nut width and a 25.3" (643mm) scale length, this guitar feels very much in the familiar territory of a standard steel-string acoustic.
Abalone rosette and dot inlays add a clean, classic look, and the ivory white ABS binding with multi-ply purfling ties the aesthetic together nicely. Diecast Ovation chrome tuners keep you in tune reliably.
Electronics — Built for the Stage
Ovation's CP-100 Slimline pickup sits under the saddle and does what undersaddle piezos do best: accurately translate the guitar's acoustic properties into a clean, consistent amplified signal. The OP-4CT preamp handles the rest — three-band EQ lets you shape bass, mid, and treble on the fly, and the built-in chromatic tuner means one less piece of gear to carry to a gig.
Whether you're plugging straight into a PA, running through an acoustic amp, or going into an interface for a recording session, the CS24X-7C's electronics give you enough control to dial in a sound that works for the room.
