The result was Lyrachord, a fiberglass-composite material molded into a smooth, parabolic bowl that focuses acoustic energy right where you want it: toward the audience. The CS24-5 carries that same DNA in a mid-depth body that's comfortable against your torso whether you're seated in a studio chair or standing center-stage.
The Celebrity Traditional line sits at the entry point of the Ovation family, and the CS24-5 in Black delivers a solid spruce top, scalloped quartersawn X-bracing, and a center soundhole layout — plus a full onboard electronics package ready to plug in from day one. This B-Stock unit is new, never owned, and will be gone over and set up by our licensed tech before it gets to you.

A Solid Top Where It Counts
The CS24-5 leads with a solid spruce top — a genuine solid top, not a laminate — braced with scalloped, quartersawn X-bracing for responsive tone and good note separation. Spruce is the workhorse of acoustic guitar tops for good reason: it's stiff, light, and produces a clear, articulate voice with solid projection. Paired with Ovation's Lyrachord composite bowl back, the sound leans bright and forward with strong clarity — qualities that translate especially well through a PA system or monitor.
The top is finished in gloss black with a pearloid rosette around the center soundhole, ivory-white body binding, and multi-ply purfling. It's a clean, sharp look that holds up well on stage under lighting.
Neck, Fretboard, and Feel
The CS24-5 features a satin-finished Nato neck with an ovangkol fingerboard and bridge. The scale length runs 643mm (approximately 25.3"), and the nut width sits at 42.8mm (about 1-11/16") — a slightly narrower profile that tends to feel accessible to players coming from an electric background. Ovation's rounded-C neck profile and 10" fingerboard radius contribute to a faster-feeling neck than you'd find on many acoustics in this range. Pearloid dot inlays and chrome die-cast tuners round out the hardware.
Players often find the mid-depth Lyrachord body particularly comfortable for long playing sessions — it sits naturally against the body without the bulk of a full-depth acoustic, which is a genuine ergonomic advantage, especially standing up.
Electronics: Built to Perform Live
Ovation has been in the acoustic-electric game longer than just about anyone, and the CS24-5 benefits from that experience. The guitar is equipped with an Ovation CP-100 Slimline pickup at the bridge and an OP-4BT preamp system built into the upper bout. The OP-4BT gives you a three-band EQ (bass, mid, treble with ±12dB control), volume/gain, an onboard chromatic tuner, and a low-battery indicator. That's a genuinely useful suite of controls — you can dial in your sound before you hit the stage without hunting for an external tuner.
The Lyrachord body's smooth interior surface is designed to enhance acoustic reflection and resist feedback at higher volumes — a real-world benefit that Ovation players have appreciated for decades.

We will have our licensed tech go over the Guitar and set it up for you. On this Guitar, Ovation states it is B-Stock due to imperfection at binding (see pictures). This may not be the only defect that causes it to be a B-Stock, but it is the one Ovation identified.
