Nylon Strings, Electric Soul
There's a certain kind of player who loves the warmth and expressiveness of nylon strings but doesn't want to wrestle with a classical guitar's wide neck and deep body every time they sit down to play. The Ibanez FRH10N Thinline Nylon was built for exactly that person. It looks like something you'd plug into a pedalboard, plays like an electric, and sounds unmistakably like a nylon-string acoustic.
The body is barely 1-15/16" deep — dramatically thinner than a traditional classical — so it sits against you like a solidbody while still delivering that characteristic warmth and articulation you get from nylon strings and traditional fan bracing. And the Indigo Blue Metallic Flat finish gives it a look that's genuinely unlike anything else in the acoustic-electric world.
Whether you're a steel-string player curious about nylon, a classical player who wants something more stage-friendly, or just someone who wants a versatile acoustic-electric that's easy to live with, the FRH10N brings a lot to the table.
This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Dent on top of body above rosette.. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
A Top That Means Business
The solid Sitka spruce top is the tonal foundation here, and it's the real deal — not a laminate. Sitka spruce is the go-to top wood for good reason: it's responsive across a wide dynamic range, stays clear and articulate when you dig in, and opens up more as it's played over time. Ibanez pairs it with traditional fan bracing, the same style used in classical guitar construction, which gives the FRH10N that focused, warm, touch-sensitive response that nylon-string players expect.
There's no traditional soundhole on the top — instead, a side sound port lets you hear the guitar's acoustic voice clearly while you play. This also means far less feedback when you're amplified on stage, which is a genuine practical advantage for performing musicians.
A Neck Electric Players Will Actually Love
Classical guitars are known for wide, flat necks that can feel like a foreign country to players coming from steel-string or electric backgrounds. The FRH10N takes a different approach: the C-shaped Nyatoh neck has a 46mm nut width — narrower than a traditional classical — and a 400mm (roughly 15.7") fretboard radius. That radius is a big deal. Most classical guitars have no radius at all, so this one immediately feels familiar if you've spent any time on an electric or steel-string acoustic.
The set-in neck construction gives the joint a clean look and solid feel, and with 22 frets and the FR-style body cutaways on both sides of the neck joint, upper-fret access is genuinely easy. Gold classical-style tuners cap the slotted headstock, keeping the aesthetic grounded in tradition even while the playability pulls toward the modern.
Plugged In and Ready
The FRH10N comes equipped with an Ibanez undersaddle pickup feeding an Ibanez AEQ210T onboard preamp. The preamp gives you volume, treble, and bass controls, a phase switch to fight feedback, and a built-in chromatic tuner — everything you need to dial in a usable sound without extra gear. The output is a standard 1/4" endpin jack, so it works with any standard instrument cable. Bone nut and saddle material round out the setup, contributing to good transfer of string energy into the top.
Sapele back and sides add warmth and midrange focus to complement the spruce top's clarity. D'Addario XTC45 nylon strings come factory-installed, a solid choice right out of the box.
