The Starchild's Signature Guitar — Now in Your Hands
Paul Stanley of KISS reunited with Ibanez to create a guitar that carries real DNA from the iconic Iceman body shape he's been associated with since the 1970s. The PS120 isn't a casual tribute piece — it's a fully spec'd signature model with the kind of appointments you'd expect on a guitar that needs to perform night after night under the lights. The asymmetrical single-cutaway body is as visually striking as it is functional, and the combination of an Okoume body with a maple top keeps things tonally balanced with good snap and definition.
The set-in neck is a three-piece Okoume construction, providing excellent stability and a playing feel that's both fast and comfortable. Players who want long, singing sustain will appreciate the neck joint design — vibration transfers through the body more efficiently with a set neck than a bolt-on, and you can hear and feel the difference on held notes.
This is a guitar built for rock and hard rock in the most direct sense, loaded with premium electronics and dressed in abalone binding details. Whether you're playing originals, covers, or just plugging in for the fun of it, the PS120 makes a statement before you've played a single note.
This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Finish flaw sand through near tone and volume knobs. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
Okoume Body, Maple Top, and That Distinctive Shape
The PS120's solidbody is built from Okoume — a tonewood that delivers a clear, bright fundamental with good sustain and a comfortable weight. The maple top adds tonal character and a bit more bite in the high end, rounding out the overall sound with improved pick attack and upper-mid clarity. Together, the combination gives you something with a bit more presence than a pure mahogany body while staying warm in the low mids.
Abalone body binding runs the perimeter of the body and accents the neck joint, giving the guitar a finished, stage-ready look. The gloss black finish is deep and consistent — and along with chrome hardware, the whole package has a classic hard rock aesthetic that holds up as well today as it did when Stanley first championed the Iceman shape decades ago.
Seymour Duncan Pickups and a Fast Ebony Fretboard
Ibanez fitted the PS120 with a pair of U.S.-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers: a '59 model (SH-1) at the neck and a Custom 5 (SH-14) at the bridge. The '59 gives you a warm, vocal neck tone — great for leads and smooth chords — while the Custom 5 at the bridge adds more output and a sharper attack without losing definition. Both are passive/alnico designs, so they're responsive to your picking dynamics and guitar volume knob. Controls run two volumes, one master tone, and a 3-way pickup selector.
The bound ebony fretboard over the three-piece Okoume set neck features acrylic and abalone split-block position markers, 22 medium frets, and a 305mm (12") radius — comfortable for both rhythm work and single-note playing. Scale length is 628mm (24.75"), which sits in the familiar Gibson-scale territory. Nut is bone at 43mm wide, and all hardware is chrome.
Gibraltar Performer Bridge and Quik Change III Tailpiece
The Gibraltar Performer bridge is a Tune-o-matic style fixed bridge with individually adjustable saddles for precise intonation. Paired with the Quik Change III tailpiece — which features a unique arrowhead-shaped chrome ornament that's very much a Paul Stanley signature detail — string changes are quicker than a standard stop tailpiece. String spacing at the bridge is 10.5mm.
The result is a rock-solid platform for tuning stability and great string-to-body energy transfer. Whether you're doing heavy palm muting or open chord strumming, the bridge doesn't introduce unwanted flex or buzz. Factory tuning is standard E, with D'Addario EXL110 strings (.010–.046) installed.
