A Signature Built for the Way Tim Henson Actually Plays
If you've watched Tim Henson perform with Polyphia, you've probably wondered how he gets those tones — pristine nylon-like cleans, hi-fi sparkle, and punchy high-gain crunch, all from one guitar, often within the same song. The answer isn't magic; it's a meticulously designed instrument. The Ibanez TOD10 is the result of Ibanez's close collaboration with Henson, taking the proven AZ Series platform and reshaping it around his specific technical demands and sonic palette.
Built around an American basswood body with a bolt-on roasted maple neck and ebony fingerboard, the TOD10 is a fast, stable, and tonally flexible solidbody electric. It's the kind of guitar that rewards players who push technique — extended tapping passages, complex harmonic voicings, wide tremolo swings — without fighting back. And in Metallic Mauve with its striking "Tree of Death" fingerboard inlay, it's definitely not blending into the background.
Whether you're deep into modern progressive playing or just want a high-spec electric that covers serious tonal ground, the TOD10 is built with purpose from the ground up.
This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Finish flaw on top between waist and bridge. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
Roasted Maple Neck and Ebony Fingerboard
The neck on the TOD10 is one of its defining features. Roasted maple is heat-treated to increase stability, durability, and resistance to moisture and temperature changes — which matters if you're touring or playing in rooms with inconsistent climate control. The AZ Oval "C" profile strikes a comfortable balance between old-school vintage feel and modern fast-play ergonomics. At 42mm wide at the nut with a 12" fretboard radius, it's flat enough to support bending and speed work without feeling like a baseball bat in your hand.
The ebony fingerboard contributes tight lows and a focused midrange with a quick, articulate response. Twenty-four jumbo stainless steel frets run the full length, and stainless steel means they'll hold up far longer than standard nickel frets — less wear over time, smoother feel across the board. Luminescent side dot inlays keep you oriented on dark stages, and the "Tree of Death" inlay — Henson's darker take on Ibanez's iconic "Tree of Life" — makes the fingerboard genuinely distinctive.
Fishman Fluence Tim Henson Signature Humbuckers
The heart of the TOD10's tonal range is a pair of Fishman Fluence Tim Henson Signature Series active humbuckers (HH configuration, Active/Alnico). These aren't your typical hot-rodded humbuckers — the Fluence system runs on an onboard battery-powered circuit that eliminates the hum and noise often associated with passive single coils while still delivering a wide range of voiced sounds.
The push/pull tone control acts as a voicing switch, toggling between different pickup voices for each position. Push in for Voice 1 and 3, pull out for Voice 2 and 3. Combined with the 5-way blade switch, you get access to clean single-coil-like tones, smooth neck humbucker warmth, and aggressive bridge lead tones — all from one guitar, no pedalboard trickery required. If you regularly need to cover a lot of tonal ground in a single set, this pickup system is designed for exactly that.
Gotoh Hardware Throughout
The TOD10 is fitted with a Gotoh T1502 tremolo bridge — a high-quality floating tremolo with steel saddles and a die-cast zinc tremolo block for responsive articulation and reliable return-to-pitch. String spacing sits at 10.5mm, which supports precise picking across strings and feels comfortable for players with a range of right-hand techniques.
Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads handle tuning stability at the headstock end, and a Graph Tech nut sits at the other end of the string path. Chrome hardware finishes out the look, keeping things clean against the Metallic Mauve body. Scale length is 25.5" (648mm), which balances familiar feel for most players with enough tension for the .010-.046 D'Addario EXL110 string set the guitar ships with.
