A Body Built for Tone and Looks
The GRX70QAL is built around a solid poplar body topped with a quilted maple art grain top. Poplar is a lightweight, balanced tonewood that responds well across the frequency range, and the quilted art grain top adds serious visual character without inflating the price. The gloss polyester finish keeps the blue burst vivid and the body well protected.
The double-cutaway body shape gives you clean access up the neck, which matters when you're reaching for those higher frets. It's a comfortable, balanced design that won't fatigue you after a long practice session.
Neck and Fretboard
The GRX maple neck uses a bolt-on joint and features a 25.5" scale length — the same as a Fender Stratocaster — which gives you a bright, snappy response and plenty of string tension for standard tuning. The nut width comes in at 42mm, keeping the spacing comfortable without feeling crowded.
The jatoba fretboard carries 22 medium frets with white dot inlays, a 12" (305mm) radius, and a neck profile that tapers from 19.5mm at the first fret to 21.5mm at the twelfth. It's a relatively flat radius that's well-suited to single-note runs and lead playing, while still being friendly for chord work.
Pickups, Controls, and Hardware
The GRX70QAL runs an HSH configuration: Infinity R humbuckers at the neck and bridge, with an Infinity RS single-coil in the middle. All three are passive, ceramic-magnet units. The two humbuckers bring higher output and a fuller, punchier character, while the middle single-coil cleans things up for those bell-like, glassy in-between tones. A 5-way selector switch, one master volume, and one tone knob keep the controls simple and intuitive.
For the bridge, the T106 tremolo handles standard vibrato duties — smooth dips, subtle pitch wobbles, and basic dive effects. Chrome hardware rounds out the look and keeps everything cohesive.
