AZ Series Flexibility, Flamed Maple Good Looks

The Ibanez AZ Standard AZ24S1F is one of those guitars that covers a lot of ground without asking you to compromise. You get a flamed maple top sitting over a solid alder body, a roasted maple neck, and a dual-humbucker setup that can convincingly fake single-coil tones — all wrapped up in that warm Violin Sunburst finish. It's a solidbody built around player convenience: fast fret access, a stable tremolo, and a switching system that hands you ten distinct sounds without ever needing to rewire a thing.

This particular guitar is a B-Stock unit directly from Ibanez. Before it ships, our licensed technician will give it a thorough inspection and professional setup so it plays its best when it arrives in your hands.

This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed a flaw in poly on right horn. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.

Body and Neck: Built to Play

The AZ24S1F starts with an alder body — a wood well-known for delivering a well-balanced, bright tone with solid resonance and sustain. Over that sits a flamed maple top that shows off natural wood grain in the Violin Sunburst finish, making this one of the better-looking guitars at its price point. The deep dual cutaways give you clean access all the way up the fretboard, and the Super All-Access Neck Joint means the body contour doesn't get in your way when you're working up at the top frets.

The roasted maple neck is heat-treated for improved stability, moisture resistance, and temperature tolerance — meaning it holds up better to humidity swings and seasonal changes than a standard maple neck. The AZ neck profile is described by Ibanez as a smooth oval grip, sitting at 20.5mm thick at the first fret and 22.5mm at the 12th. The jatoba fingerboard brings a reddish-brown character with a rich midrange and crisp high end, and the 12" (305mm) radius keeps bends comfortable and consistent. Twenty-four jumbo stainless steel frets round things out — stainless resists corrosion and tends to stay playable longer than standard nickel frets.

Pickups and Electronics: Ten Sounds, Two Humbuckers

Under the hood, you'll find two Ibanez Modern Custom humbuckers — passive pickups with Alnico V magnets — mounted directly to the body. They're voiced for powerful output with a quick response, which makes them well-suited for overdrive and distortion. But what really unlocks this guitar's range is the dyna-MIX10 switching system paired with an Alter Switch mini toggle. That combination gives you ten distinct sound variations and lets you flip between full humbucker mode and Power Tap mode, which produces a convincing single-coil sound without actually having single-coil pickups installed.

Controls are straightforward: one volume, one tone, the 5-way blade switch, and the Alter Switch. Chrome hardware ties the hardware together visually, and the body wears a gloss polyurethane finish while the neck gets a more player-friendly satin polyurethane treatment.

Bridge and Tuners: Stable and Adjustable

The Ibanez T106 tremolo bridge features six independent saddles, so you can set the height and intonation of each string individually. Each saddle uses a comfort round steel design that Ibanez says provides a wider range of height adjustment and reduces stress on your picking hand. Ibanez locking tuning machines keep the guitar in tune through tremolo use, which is exactly what you want if you plan to actually use the arm.
