A Modern Player's Strat-Style Guitar With Nine Tonal Voices

If you've been chasing a guitar that covers clean, single-coil shimmer AND thick humbucker punch without a pedal in sight, the Ibanez AZ22S2MGR makes a strong case. The AZ Standard series sits right in the middle of Ibanez's lineup — not entry-level, not boutique — and it earns its place with real-deal specs at an honest price point. Roasted maple neck, jumbo stainless steel frets, locking tuners, and a full nine-voice pickup switching system. In Mint Green, it also looks sharp.

The AZ body shape is Ibanez's answer to the classic double-cutaway form — slightly asymmetrical, ergonomically contoured, and built around their Super All Access Neck Joint that keeps the upper frets genuinely reachable. Whether you're running clean arpeggios or pushing your amp a little harder, the guitar doesn't fight you.

This is a solid choice for players who want serious versatility in a familiar-feeling package — from blues and rock to fusion and beyond.

This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Factory scratch in finish on top body between neck pickup and top strap button. Debris under clearcoat on top.. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.

Neck Built for Stability and Speed

The roasted maple neck on the AZ22S2MGR goes through a heat-treatment process that improves dimensional stability and moisture resistance — which means it's less likely to move on you when the weather changes. The AZ Oval C profile is comfortable and fast, with a thickness of 20.5mm at the first fret and 22.5mm at the twelfth. The satin polyurethane finish keeps things smooth under your palm.

The Jatoba fretboard has a 305mm (roughly 12") radius — flat enough for single-note work and lead playing, while still feeling natural for chords. Twenty-two jumbo stainless steel frets give you a slightly larger surface to land on, and stainless resists corrosion and wear far better than standard nickel frets. The 42mm nut width and 25.5" scale length fall squarely in Stratocaster territory, so the feel will be immediately familiar.

Classic Custom Pickups and the dyna-MIX9 System

The HSS pickup layout features Ibanez Classic Custom single-coils at the neck and middle positions (Alnico magnets, passive) and a Classic Custom humbucker at the bridge (ceramic magnet, passive). The single-coils bring clarity and chime; the bridge humbucker delivers more output and fullness for driven tones.

The dyna-MIX9 switching system pairs a standard five-way lever switch with an Alter Switch mini toggle to unlock nine distinct pickup combinations. Flipping the Alter Switch engages a hum-tap mode that opens up blended and split-coil voices — including a position that simulates a humbucking sound from two single-coils combined. Volume and tone controls round out a layout that's intuitive once you've spent a few minutes with it.

Hardware That Stays in Tune

The T106 tremolo bridge gives you smooth vibrato action with independent saddle height adjustment for precise intonation. It's designed for controlled pitch movement — subtle shimmer to expressive dips — without excessive flutter. Locking machine heads handle tuning stability on the other end, making string changes faster and keeping you in tune through whatever you're playing.

All hardware is chrome-finished and matches the white perloid pickguard and white knobs for a clean, cohesive look that the Mint Green finish complements nicely.
