The Ibanez TMB100 Talman Bass takes a different approach — it leans into a genuinely cool retro-offset body shape and backs it up with a pickup configuration that actually delivers. The Tri Fade Burst finish shifts from one color into the next in a way that looks great under stage lights and just as good hanging on a wall.
At its core, this is a PJ-configured bass: a Dynamix P split-coil at the neck and a Dynamix J single-coil at the bridge, both passive. That classic pairing covers a lot of ground — the P side gives you that thick, fundamental thump, while the J rounds out the high end with a bit of bite and articulation. Stack on top of that the onboard 2-band active EQ and you have a lot of real tonal flexibility in a straightforward package.

A Body Built for Tone and Comfort
The TMB100's body is poplar — a solid, lightweight wood that keeps the bass comfortable for long sets while contributing to a balanced, lively tone response. The single-cutaway Talman body shape has a distinct retro personality, completed by a three-ply tortoiseshell pickguard and chrome hardware that ties the whole vintage-inspired look together.
The bolt-on neck joint keeps things simple and serviceable. The TMB4 maple neck profile is designed to feel smooth and fast under the hand, and the 41mm nut width (about 1.61") sits right in the middle of comfortable territory for most players — not cramped, not too wide.
Neck, Fretboard, and Feel
The maple neck is topped with a jatoba fretboard — a dense, reddish-brown tonewood that plays similarly to rosewood and holds up well over time. White dot inlays keep things clean and easy to read on stage. The fretboard radius is 9.4" (240mm), which strikes a solid balance between chord-friendly comfort and smooth single-note runs.
You get 20 medium frets across a 34" standard scale length, which puts this bass right in the classic electric bass comfort zone. The nut-to-20th-fret neck dimensions give you 21.5mm of thickness at the first fret and 24.5mm at the 12th — a neck that stays slim where you need it most.
PJ Pickups and Active EQ
The Dynamix P neck pickup is a passive split-coil — the foundation of that classic bass sound. The Dynamix J bridge pickup is a passive single-coil that adds clarity, snap, and presence. Together, they give you the best of both worlds in a single instrument. Blend them with the balance control to find your sweet spot.
The Ibanez Custom Electronics 2-band EQ adds active boosting and cutting of treble and bass frequencies. Controls are arranged on two stacked concentric knobs: one for master volume and pickup balance, and one for treble and bass EQ. The B10 bridge handles intonation duties with 19mm string spacing — standard and comfortable for most playing styles.
