A StingRay Unlike Any Other — Built for Heavy Music
There are signature guitars, and then there are signature guitars that actually reflect how the artist plays. The Sterling by Music Man Jared Dines Artist Series StingRay falls firmly in the second camp. Designed from the ground up with the YouTube guitar powerhouse himself, this is the only StingRay model to feature 24 frets — and that extra real estate up the neck is very much the point.
The Olympic White finish gives this guitar a clean, striking look that contrasts boldly with the black pickguard and eye-catching gold hardware. It's a head-turner on stage, and the spec sheet backs up the visual promise with some genuinely thoughtful engineering choices. If you've spent time watching Jared Dines churn through riffs and breakdowns, you'll recognize immediately why this instrument is built the way it is.
This is a guitar designed for players who want to go hard — extended range up the neck, a unique control layout for live performance tricks, and pickups wound specifically to stay articulate under high gain. It fits naturally into rock and metal, but the versatility of the HH setup and the 3-way toggle means there's plenty of tonal ground to cover.
Hot-Rodded Humbuckers and a Kill Switch Made for the Stage
The dual humbucking pickups on the Dines StingRay aren't off-the-shelf units — they were designed specifically in collaboration with Jared to handle the kind of heavy, high-gain playing he's known for. The HH configuration with a 3-way toggle selector gives you neck, bridge, or both pickups together, keeping the tonal options simple and decisive when you're mid-performance.
Then there's the kill switch. It's wired to instantly silence the signal, which opens up a whole world of percussive stutter effects and rhythmic gating that you just can't get with a standard volume knob. Paired with the single stacked tone/volume dual knob — one control, two functions — the control layout is built around keeping your hands on the strings as much as possible rather than fumbling with multiple knobs between parts.
24 Frets, Nyatoh Body, and a Stained Maple Neck
The Nyatoh body keeps things resonant and lightweight, while the hard maple neck — finished in a stained satin — brings snap and clarity to the attack. The maple fingerboard continues that bright, defined character and pairs well with the hot-rodded humbuckers to keep note definition even when the gain is cranked. The 12-inch fretboard radius falls in a comfortable middle ground: flat enough for fast runs, but with enough curve to keep chords feeling natural.
At 24 frets with medium-high fret wire and a 25.5-inch scale length, there's plenty of fretboard to work with. The nut comes in at 1.65 inches (42mm) — a familiar, comfortable width. The 5-bolt neck joint keeps things rock-solid with no neck dive or wobble, and the dual-action truss rod gives you precise relief adjustments as the seasons change.
Vintage Tremolo and Locking Tuners
The vintage-style tremolo bridge opens up expressive playing options — dive bombs, subtle vibrato, or just a touch of wobble for texture — while the locking tuners at the headstock keep things from going south after heavy use. Sterling's slightly oversized headstock houses these locking tuners in a 4+2 configuration, and the gold hardware throughout ties the whole look together against the Olympic White body.
Players who gig regularly will appreciate the combination: a tremolo that invites you to use it, and tuners that make sure the guitar comes back from the dive in tune. The 25.5-inch scale also helps string tension stay consistent even when you're bending hard up at the 24th fret.
