Schecter's Damien-6 Has Arrived — And It's Ready for the Dark Side
There's a reason the Schecter Damien series keeps showing up in metal circles: it delivers real, usable tone without making you take out a second mortgage. The Damien-6 in Satin Black is built around a mahogany body with an arched top, a fast maple neck, and a rosewood fretboard loaded with pearloid bat inlays — all finished in a matte black that looks exactly as menacing in person as it does in photos.
This is a no-nonsense solidbody with bolt-on construction, a fixed hardtail bridge, and a pickup set that was designed specifically with heavier music in mind. Whether you're riffing through a dirty channel or coaxing aggressive lead tones, the Damien-6 has the hardware to back you up without a bunch of unnecessary complexity getting in the way.
This is a guitar that works for players who know what they want: something that feels fast, sounds heavy, and doesn't require a lot of tinkering right out of the box.
A Mahogany Body That Earns Its Keep
The Damien-6 is built on a mahogany body with an arched top contour and black 1-ply binding — a classic combination that contributes warmth and sustain in the low-mids. The satin finish keeps it comfortable in your hands and gives the whole guitar a decidedly no-frills, purposeful look. Black hardware throughout keeps the aesthetic consistent and adds to the overall blacked-out aesthetic.
The bridge is a Schecter Custom Hardtail with string-through-body design, which improves string-to-body contact and adds to the overall sustain and resonance you get from the mahogany. For players who aren't interested in a floating tremolo system — and just want a guitar that stays in tune and transfers energy efficiently — the hardtail setup is exactly right.
A Neck Built for Speed
The maple neck runs a Thin "C" profile, which sits comfortably in the hand without feeling like you're wrapping around a baseball bat. The rosewood fretboard has a 14" radius — flatter than a vintage Fender, which makes it more forgiving for fast runs and bends higher up the neck. You get 24 extra-jumbo frets across a 25.5" scale length, giving you plenty of real estate and a full two octaves per string.
At the nut, Schecter uses a Graph Tech XL Black TUSQ nut (1.653" width), which improves tuning stability and helps bring out harmonics compared to a standard plastic nut. Schecter tuners handle the other end. Neck thickness measures .787" at the 1st fret and .866" at the 12th — a consistent, gradual taper that players generally find very manageable for extended playing sessions.
Heretic Humbuckers — Made for This
Both pickup positions run Schecter Diamond "Heretic" humbuckers — a design built specifically for heavier playing styles. The Heretic uses a center alnico V magnet flanked by ceramic 8 magnets, which gives you a focused midrange attack without losing articulation in the low end. The push-pull tone control adds an extra layer of flexibility to the standard volume/tone/3-way setup, letting you access additional tonal options without adding extra switches to the control layout.
These aren't high-output pickups in the sense that they become a compressed, indistinct wall of gain — they're voiced to stay tight and defined even when you're pushing the amp hard. Players who dial in a lot of gain will appreciate that note-to-note clarity holds up.
