An Acoustic That Thinks It's an Electric

If you've spent most of your time on an electric and the thought of transitioning to acoustic feels like switching sports entirely, the Ibanez Altstar ALT50FA might be exactly what you've been waiting for. It looks like an acoustic, it sounds like an acoustic — but the moment you pick it up, it feels like coming home. The Florentine single-cutaway body, the slim Comfort Grip neck, the 25.5" scale, the tight 15.75" fretboard radius — Ibanez built this guitar specifically to not make you relearn how to play.

The Transparent Violet Sunburst finish doesn't hurt either. Between the flamed maple art grain top, the pointed Ibanez headstock, and the sharktooth inlays, the ALT50FA has more personality than most acoustics at this price. It's an instrument that electric players will immediately recognize as one of their own.

Whether you're writing songs, practicing unplugged, or plugging into the PA for a gig, the ALT50FA is ready for all of it — with onboard electronics to make plugging in effortless.

This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Small chip at corner of bridge. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.

A Body Built Around How You Already Play

The Altstar body shape is Ibanez's own compact dreadnought design — sized down slightly from a standard dreadnought, which makes it more comfortable for players used to the contoured bodies of electric guitars. The Florentine cutaway isn't just for looks: the neck joins the body at the 16th fret (rather than the conventional 12th), so upper-fret access is genuinely usable, not just theoretical. The basswood body is capped with a flamed maple art grain veneer top under a high-gloss polyurethane finish, paired with sapele back and sides.

The tri-oval asymmetrical soundhole is one of those details that catches people off guard — it's a deliberate design choice that reflects the ALT50FA's modern, electric-leaning DNA. Sapele back and sides bring warm mids and a clear, articulate high end, making the guitar versatile across playing styles from fingerpicking to aggressive strumming.

The Neck You Already Know

The Comfort Grip maple neck feels exactly as its name suggests — familiar and undemanding, with a satin polyurethane finish that lets your hand glide freely. The purpleheart fretboard runs 22 frets with a 15.75" radius, keeping string action flat and consistent in the way electric players prefer. Sharktooth inlays mark positions in Ibanez's signature style. Nut width is 43mm (just under 1 11/16"), and the 25.5" scale length keeps string tension and feel consistent with most electric guitars.

Black die-cast tuners with an 18:1 gear ratio give you precise, stable tuning. The purpleheart bridge and Ibanez Advantage bridge pins round out a hardware package that keeps the focus on tone and reliability without overcomplicating things.

Plug In and Play

The onboard Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp system handles the electronics side simply and effectively. An Ibanez undersaddle pickup captures your acoustic tone at the source, and the preamp gives you individual bass and treble controls plus a volume knob. The onboard tuner works even when the guitar isn't plugged in — a small but genuinely useful detail for quick stage retuning or practice sessions. Output is via a standard 1/4" jack, running on a 9V battery.

The preamp isn't trying to over-process your tone — it's designed to let the natural character of the instrument translate faithfully to an amp or PA system. Players who prefer a clean, accurate piezo-style response will find the AEQ-2T delivers exactly that.
