All-Black, Cutaway Comfort — Built for Players Who Know Both Worlds

If you've spent years on electric guitars and occasionally glance over at the acoustic corner of the room with vague suspicion, the Ibanez AEWC621 BOT was pretty much made for you. The AEWC body design borrows directly from electric guitar ergonomics — slimmer profile, arm and back contours, an arched back — so sitting down with this one feels less like a compromise and more like a natural extension of what you already play. The all-black "Black Out" finish and black hardware keep things clean and purposeful, no flash, no fuss.

Underneath that matte-black exterior is a spruce top paired with sapele back and sides, a combination that produces a bright, clear midrange with enough warmth to handle fingerpicking alongside strumming. The soft Florentine cutaway opens up the upper register without sacrificing body resonance — a genuine win for players who want to move around the neck freely.

Whether you're writing at home or running a set at an open mic, the onboard electronics mean you're always ready to plug in. This one is B-Stock direct from Ibanez — read the condition details below before purchasing.

This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Dent on side of neck near nut. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.

A Body Built Around the Player

The AEWC body shape is Ibanez's answer to one of the common frustrations with acoustic guitars: they can feel bulky and awkward if you're used to the slim, contoured feel of an electric. The AEWC621 addresses this directly with arm and back contours carved into the body, plus an arched back that reduces the instrument's bulk against your torso. The result is a guitar that sits naturally whether you're standing or seated.

The soft Florentine cutaway provides clean access to the upper frets — the neck joins the body at the 14th fret, but the cutaway lets you reach well beyond that. Paired with the 25" scale length and a 15.75" fretboard radius, the geometry will feel immediately familiar to electric players. The Comfort Grip Nyatoh neck profile is designed for ease across long playing sessions, with a nut width of 43mm (1.69") that keeps chord shapes compact and manageable.

Tonewoods and Construction

The AEWC621 features a laminate spruce top with laminate sapele back and sides. Spruce is a go-to top wood for good reason — it responds across a wide dynamic range, staying articulate whether you're playing softly or digging in. Sapele is often compared to mahogany in character: warm and focused in the mids, with a bit of brightness in the upper frequencies. Together, they make for a balanced acoustic voice that works for a range of styles.

The Macassar Ebony fretboard brings a distinctive look and a tight, responsive feel under the fingers. The same wood is used for the top-loading bridge — a design choice that makes string changes faster and simpler, with no bridge pins to wrestle with. Bracing pattern is not specified by the manufacturer for this model, but the overall voice reflects the projection and clarity typical of a well-designed X-braced spruce top.

Electronics: Fishman and Ibanez Together

The pickup system centers on a Fishman S-Core undersaddle pickup, which is well-regarded for accurately capturing the acoustic sound of the guitar without adding unwanted color. It feeds into the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp, which gives you independent bass and treble controls plus a master volume. There's also an onboard chromatic tuner with a dedicated on/off switch, so you can tune silently between songs without unplugging.

One feature worth highlighting: the AEWC621 offers both a balanced XLR output and a standard 1/4" output. That means you can run directly to a PA system without a DI box, which is a practical advantage at venues where backline is minimal. The preamp runs on a single 9V battery.
