A Baritone Voice Built for the Stage and Studio
If you've ever layered acoustic guitar tracks in a recording and felt like something was missing down low, a baritone might be exactly what you've been looking for. The Ibanez AE275BT drops into a 27" baritone scale tuning (B–B, standard baritone) and delivers that wide, resonant low-end that a standard acoustic just can't reach. It's the kind of guitar that fills a room differently — fuller, deeper, with a weight to every strum.
Built around Ibanez's AE body design with a cutaway for upper-fret access, this guitar pairs a solid Sitka spruce top with Okoume back and sides, giving it a punchy, focused character with warm midrange. The Natural Low Gloss finish keeps things understated and lets the wood breathe, both visually and tonally.
Whether you're layering studio tracks, writing songs that live in a lower register, or just want a guitar that sits in a different frequency space from your main acoustic, the AE275BT is a well-specified, ready-to-gig instrument at a thoughtful price point.
This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Milky finish on headstock. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.
A Baritone Scale That Changes Everything
The 27" scale length is what defines this guitar's identity. That extra length compared to a standard acoustic (usually 25.4"–25.5") increases string tension and lowers the overall pitch range, allowing for that characteristic baritone richness. Factory tuning is B–B, but the longer scale also handles drop tunings well without the floppiness you'd get on a short-scale instrument.
The nut width sits at 45mm — slightly wider than a typical acoustic — which gives a little more room between strings, a welcome feature when you're navigating the thicker gauged strings that baritone tuning requires. Ibanez spec'd bone for both the nut and saddle, materials known for good vibration transfer and sustain compared to plastic alternatives.
Solid Spruce Top, Ibanez X-M Bracing
The solid Sitka spruce top is the tonal centerpiece here. Sitka is a workhorse top wood for good reason — it's responsive across a wide dynamic range and handles both delicate fingerpicking and hard strumming without compressing too early. The X-M bracing pattern Ibanez developed for this series is a scalloped X-brace design that's meant to efficiently transfer string vibration from the bridge into the top, emphasizing clarity in the low end and definition in the treble — useful qualities for a baritone that can otherwise get muddy.
The Okoume back and sides contribute a warm, woody character. Players often describe Okoume as similar to mahogany in feel — relatively lightweight, with a focused midrange and a clear projection on louder strums. It's a good pairing for the spruce top on a baritone application.
Electronics Ready for the Stage
The AE275BT is a full acoustic-electric, equipped with the Ibanez AP11 magnetic pickup mounted at the neck position and an Ibanez Custom Electronics preamp with volume and tone controls. The AP11 is a small, lightweight design positioned so it doesn't restrict the top's natural movement, which keeps the acoustic tone intact when you're playing unplugged. Plugged in, it delivers a lively, responsive signal with good feedback resistance — useful in live settings.
The onboard tone and volume controls give you basic shaping before the signal hits your amp or DI box, and the 1/4" endpin jack keeps the strap pin functional while acting as the output. It's a practical, uncluttered electronics setup that gets the job done without a lot of extra complexity.
Neck Feel and Appointments
The Nyatoh neck features Ibanez's Comfort Grip profile with rounded fretboard edges — a detail that matters on a baritone, where the thicker strings and wider spacing can make a less comfortable neck feel like work. The Pau Ferro fretboard features 20 jumbo frets with Ibanez's distinctive Wooden Vine inlay, and chrome die-cast tuners with an 18:1 gear ratio handle tuning stability. Ibanez Advantage bridge pins round out the hardware — their bulb-shaped end makes string changes noticeably easier than traditional pins.
