Each of the four reeds has a distinct personality. The Java is the classic bright, quick-responding jazz cut with a flexible palette. The Java Red is a filed version of the Java — more flexible and with a bit more tonal body, built for a centered, projecting sound with a precise attack. The V16 leans darker and more percussive, with a thicker tip and longer palette designed for a deep, focused tone. The ZZ splits the difference by pairing the V16's medium-thick heart and tip with the Java's flexible palette, landing on a rich, colorful sound with fast response.
